After the Floods (A Short Story)
Hi fellow Daz community. I have just finished a very short seven render story with slightly more text than imagery. Thought I'd share it here in one sequential format for your enjoyment. This hopefully will inspire someone to create similar or different versions of their own stories using Daz software. Bottom line is the sky is the limit with this beautiful software. Hope you like it:
Doctor Liatsu searches for any survivors. The floods not only wiped out villages but it destroyed much of the wild life and plants that once inhabited the land.
While making her way to the North side of the research lab, Dr. Jane Liatsu, hears splashing and one of the drones violently beeping from behind her. Quickly turning around she confusingly sees one of the deceased victims standing and holding down the drone. And then it hit her "My God! His skin! It has become semi-transparent".
Before Jane knew it the semi-transparent figure was approaching her and fast. She instinctively grabbed for her right side blade and yelled at the figure not to come any closer. Those words seemed to mean and do nothing as he continued thrashing towards her. With him violently and aggressively swinging his arms she knew it was time to react. And she delivered it flawlessly. While holding his right arm she, with a single swing from her blade, severed his other limb just before it delivered a blow.
With the first zombie down Jane starts towards the stairs. If she could just make it a little further she would surely be safe. By this time, though, Jane is exhausted. The struggle with her first attacker and the weight of the water is taking its tole. The water feels like concrete bricks around her legs making it difficult to move and sapping whatever energy she has left.
At the base of the steps a female with the same semi-transparent skin has blocked her way. Wanting to leave she yells "STAY BACK!" and swings her blade at the zombie. Hoping to avoid another conflict she tries to circle around her attacker but to no avail. With determination and her last bit of adrenalin she manages to sever the head of the zombie. Now she can begin to get away.
With both zombies defeated Jane quickly heads to the stairs. Pushing onward, but with so much fatigue, she wonders if she can even climb this simple flight of steps. Her lungs can barely bring in enough oxygen to keep her body going.
Her foot just lands on the first step when she feels something like a sack of potatoes that slams into her backside. The force of this breaks her stance, knocking her almost head first into the water. Dazed, unable to catch enough of a breath, and unsure what just happened she starts to push herself upward from the water. It was then when she realized that someone or something was on her back.
Suddenly something clasps onto her head and holds it firmly in place. A loud piercing shriek begins to ring in her ears as her life flashes before her eyes. On the verge of fainting her mind fills with terror but she is too tired to scream or get away.
Short, deep, quickened breaths were followed by a complete loss of awareness for her surroundings. Every beat of her heart pounded in her ears and brain as her temples throbbed. Jane no longer was filled with fear but more of broken sparks of thought. Nothing that anyone listening in would understand but probably made sense in the moment. Sort of like a dream that seems so perfectly real when it's happenning but afterwards seems silly.
If she hadn't fainted by this time it was only because a sound, a sound so loud that it overshadowed the pounding of blood in her head and the screaching from the zombie. Whatever it was, it knocked her to the steps and seemed to free her of the weight holding her down.
With all the speed that it could gather the drone had shattered the spine of the zombie to save Jane. She had only realized this when using every ounce of her remaining energy to crawl to the mid platform of the steps and out of the water. With muscles exerted beyond their ability, her trembling arms finally gave way and she crashed to the hard stoneway.
Her last thought before drifting into sleep is "what will happen to me?" During the struggles, and with all of the splashing, she inadvertedly swallowed water from the same pool that created these things. Her body already feels like it is fighting a fever unlike anything she has felt before. When she wakes will she still be Doctor Jane Liatsu who spent so many years of her life pursuing education, love and happiness? Or will all of who she is be stripped away? Is she destined to become one of the savage zombies that she fought to escape from?
For now.. sleep.. sleep...

I like the sequential art. The story is interesting too. I hope she doesn't turn.
Thank you very much FirstBastion. I'm not sure what will happen yet.
This looks very impressive. The renders are perfect. You have created a very evocative scene.
It reminds me of the kind of art you might find professionally on http://conceptartworld.com
Great work
