Would like some tips on lighting.

Hi. I have been working on this Faberge egg for a while now and have everything pretty much how i wont it. But would love to know how I can get a little bit of lighting on the figures faces in the egg without making everything to bright.

Which render engine are you using 3delight or Iray? as well what kind of light are you using right now?

If for Iray I would just start with a simple place turned to emissive with a light temperature about 4500 °C swithch to kcd/m^2 Luminance units with 1500 in the luminance

For 3delight I would start out with two spot lights from above

If you placed an emmissive plane on the ceiling of the room pointing downward,  you would get a nice balanced light and you can control the intensity to suit your tastes.

Or just use the ceiling with the diffuse image in the emission colour map.

@bastian2560 This is a pretty good product

Depending how you rotate your dome you can get varying results.

Edit: I deleted my home made example as I realized it wasn’t yielding the same results as the product above. Likely because that was an HDR dome. So that gives me something also to figure out how to render light setups to an HDR dome...

    :)

Hi. Wow, thanks guy's for your qick respons. i have tried every thing sergested and did not get the resuls wonted. i have tried to duplacate the shadows from my scors pictures.

What i had to do in the end was cut the top of the egg and render it then mix and match in post work. At the end i ended up with somthing close to what i was after.
