I picked up Daz to re-do the covers of my 6 books (mostly fiction, with one book of poetry), but along the way I've had a lot of fun doing art of my characters. And I'm thrilled to share some of it here. Feedback is welcome!
This first one is of my character Old Silas, from the book The Seven Wives of Silver, but in his younger days. He's a real grump and a jerk in the book, but it was fun to imagine him when he was happy.

Today's render is of Old Silas at 70, with his seventh wife—the first to provide him with the heir he so desperately wanted.
Don't know whether the slight halo is a result of masking or intentional, but I like the way it sets the figures apart from the BG a bit. The overall postwork works well, too - especially for a book cover.
7 wives? And a kid at 70! Silas is quite the player!

Probably a bit of both when it comes to the halo. I make a lot of mistakes in Photoshop, but sometimes I dig them and keep going with them. I think that's what happened here.
And thanks for the kudos in general. It's great to hear that it's got that book cover feel.
A new one that I posted to Instagram yesterday in honor of Pride Month. This is of two of my longest-running main characters: Veronica and Desiree.
And I wasn't going to post another one so soon, but I love how this one came out.
In my novel Missing Mr. Wingfield, Vern's daughter Tracy was slow to warm to Vern's girlfriend (and, later, wife) Desiree. But when she did warm to Des, Tracy fell in love with her second mom.
One or two of the reviews for Wingfield mention that I kind of give away how the first part of the novel is going to turn out in the opening chapter. But the interesting question for me was never "Will Vern and Des get together?" but instead was "What will happen when they do get together?" ????
This is probably my favorite piece I've done since putting the ol' visual art hat back on, and it's because this is the happiest and whole-est family I've written. And that makes me so dang happy.
