You have to alternate them each month. It worked fine for me here with no problems.
:-)
I got it to work YEAH!!!!!!!
Hi guys
I haven't done anything for a while so I'll take up the 1 hour challenge as it sounds fun. But the render will certainly be grainy considering what I have in mind. And I don't even know if I can make the scene to the end in one hour. We'll see.
Rendez-vous in one hour
OK didn't see the time flying. Pretty difficult and Blender crashed twice. So here is the scene, a bit grainy
Hello Takeo, sorry to see you didn't get it in within the 1 hour time. That is a cool one. I hate to even say that because it didn't make it, now you have to do something else. I bet you will have no trouble at all in picking another render to do, you're good at that. Sorry. Keep trying please.....
No problem. I'll try to make another one before the challenge ends up. It was fun anyway and it is good to do things under time pressure sometimes. It adds to the fun
anyone looking for a snowman for the 1-hour mini there is one at fantasy attic http://thefantasiesattic.com/xmas/2013/2013.html
And of course there is always this one, from our own Pink Fluffy Bunny Ann http://www.art-collabshop.com/PizzPot

Ahhh.. Pizzpot, one of my favs
I was about to mention that one.
Wish me luck - I'm starting the one-hour challenge... Now.
Cool... Tick tick tick......

Showdown at the Sno-K Corral
Now that is a record!
Oh, yes: The snowmen are from Fantasies Attic, the gunbelts are Questor's old ones from free.daz3d.com, the snowballs are from sanzi_sannzi, and the building's the Village Blacksmith. Ground and sky are plane primitives; I don't remember where I got the backdrop from.
Dollygirl, I made a list before I started, so I didn't have to fumble around for everything - like so:
One-Hour Challenge - Showdown at the Sno-k Corrall
Two snowmen
Props : Porthos : MD_Snowman
Gunbelts
props : Questor Gunbelts
Snowballs flying between them
props : sannzi : MovingSnowball
An old-west building from the pc sale in the background
props : Village_Blacksmith
Ground plane, Backdrop
primitive
Nicely done. I think I am as ready as I ever will be. Time to start.
And I'm posting the render ... Now.

Nice one rob, and in 18 minutes!!!!!! That would be a record. You had time enough to do 3 more at that rate.
That would be a
ENTRY ACCEPTED for the mini
Does that mean you're on the clock??? Tick, tick, tick

Tips for anyone who wants to try to beat that time:
Get an image in your head, but don't be a slave to it. The original idea is just a rough sketch.
Set up as much as possible beforehand - the aspect ratio, the image size, even the name of the file. That way, you just have to hit the Render button when you're on the clock.
Make sure the textures of everything load before you start! (I flubbed this one with the snowmen's hats, but I was going to re-colour them anyway.)
Do as much in an assembly-line style as possible. (I loaded both snowmen first, then switched folders and loaded both gunbelts. It would have taken longer to do it the other way.)
Don't mess around with shadows or three-light systems - they multiply the render time by orders of magnitude. One distant light is plenty.
Title: Not My Nose!
I realized after I posted this is a png file. Should I edit it to a jpg or possibly resubmit?
very nice Kismet, if you could repost it in a jpg that would be great, other than that, you are good to go, done in under an hour.
ENTRY ACCEPTED for mini
Thanks jeeperz.
Reposting in jpg format.
I was worried I might have problems getting it to post and did not notice the format I was using until too late. :red:

Cute. I like the inventiveness of the title, too!

Why does the file type matter?
Dana
It doesn't but jpgs are just easier to deal with sometimes
I'll take your word for it...though I've never had an issue with them.
Dana
Since I live out of the big city I have to go town today, I will be gone most of the day and will not be in the thread on Saturday. I will Check links when I get back and add minis to my folder to pick from too. behave yourselves now, no throwing pies or anything like that...*sets out several pies and snowballs for anyone who has a thought of being a little naughty*
Is Jeeperz gone? Good, now I can announce that I'm starting on my mini-contest entry and she won't be able to tell how long it took.
My clock says 9:54 and here I go ...
haven't let yet
Dorsey, I'm watching you.......
