Are pz2 files really necessary if the MC6 files work in the pose Category ?

I am using Poser 9. Is there any reason why I can't use mc6 files in the Poser Pose category instead of the pz2 files ?
Or do all mc6 files have to be in the material category ? I figure lower versions of Poser may have a problem with this
but do Poser 9 or higher have problems ?

And why when I follow all the instructions on how to make a pz2 from a mc6 that sometimes it works and other times it don't work.
If all you do after making a mc6 file is change the extension to pz2 and open up the file and change mtlcollection to figure and save it
why wouldn't it work all the time ? Yet, it doesn't for me.

Where does one get that editor for pz2 files that makes them all pretty with alighment ?

Poser 8 and later are quite happy to have files in the wrong library, though they won't create them there. Poser 9 will also let you access the Materials library from the Pose room, so it isn't absolutely necessary to move the mc6 files anyway.

Thank you Richard. Ok, so I can run mc6 files in my Poser's Pose category with no harm. Cool.
