    I like this one and I'm going to join in on the fun, my first phobia choice was Luposlipaphobia

    But no idea on how to start that one!

    So, instead I will deal with clowns. Here is a quick sketch, working on the title and such, but it gives me a starting point.

    I was thinking of posting a screen shot or series of screen shots showing the light set-up.

    So here are two versions I'm playing around with. The only real difference is the Poster Edge filter at the moment. I do have other layer passes that I may use in conjunction with layer masks to refine the look a bit.

    I figured I would post the minimally altered photoshop version and the more heavily processed version to get a little feedback on which looks better to people.

    As a reminder, I'm doing the fear of stairs or steep slopes: Bathmophobia.

    I like the lighting on her on the left, but the look of the stairs on the right.

    some great WIP's being posted...

    at the moment EP the non poster edge image looks better to me..

    also... I would have the lady posed with her looking up slightly to give a sense of height with that expression which says oh no I don't have to go up them do I..

    but that's just my personal opinion ;-)

    I was thinking that myself. If I use a depth pass in a layer mask, I can define where the poster edges appear.

    Great point about the eyes Stezza! It's not to late make adjustments!

    I'm surprised you didn't comment on the horrible pun in the title. The title was inspired by an Edgar Allen Poe story, The Fall Of The House Of Usher. I decided to make it, The Fall In The House Of Escher. ;-)

    Jerry Lewis is of course known for his clumsy shtick in the '50s and '60s.

    Some great work so far - for some reason I didn't get any notification emails for a couple of days. I really like EP's Escher image - and title! I have an idea too but it may be difficult to find the time.

    I concur, great work here so far.

    EP has been prodding Dart and I offline about getting our butt's in gear for this contest. My lame excuse is that I seem to contracted a bug on my flight home from North Carolina. It's one of those minor but darned annoying things. I have also switched roles at work and need to ramp up on things there.

    But my solemn promise is to dedicate this weekend to 3D and this contest!

    Here is my city scape. Played with a few different cloud brush to see if I should even have clouds, which will be rendered if I decide to.

    Are those buildings modeled by you or purchased? I strongly suspect I'll need at least a street and a few small low-rez buildings for my scene.

    I think that I am going to call this one complete. I did move the eyes to look up a bit more. Thanks Stezza!

    For those that are interested, I am uploading the depth map render pass that I composited with the volume effect or volume primitive (can't remember which) render pass. The reason I composited the two, is that depth pass doesn't recognize volumetric clouds or Carrara's dynamic hair, but the volume effect and/or the volume primitive render passes do. When I had them composited I inverted the color (I may have uploaded the inverted version). I then copied and pasted new layers of the raw image of the scene. I made the top layer, a layer mask and used the depth pass composite as the mask.

    I wanted the woman to be more natural looking and the background to have a comic book like feel, so I applied the Poster Edge filter to the lower layer. The top layer had the layer mask and as such, only the woman was left untouched by the poster edge filter.

    To get the main text, I took my scene with the woman and the steps, and deleted them, but left the lighting and camera in place. I saved the scene with a different name so that I didn't overwrite the original. I set up the text using the text primitive and then converted to a Vertex model. I rendered with an alpha channel and composited it with the render of the woman and the set.

    If i use clouds they will be rendered, i was just doing a quick test to see if i like clouds in the image, and if they should be wispy oy fluffy,
