Advanced iray node - Plane does not go completely transparent

Hi

Hope this is the right place for my question.

I don't have much experience in useing backdrops, and integrating models in the 2d world..

I'm trying to catch shadows on the floor of this picture, and if possible create a glossy effect aswell, so the model is reflected on the shiny floor.
Been searching around and it seems what i'm after is the "Advanced iray node", and tried following this video:

But for some reason my plane does not blend in the background, and stays very white.
I can almost see it working on some areas of the plane.

Does anyknow know how to make this work for me ?

I've attached a few screenshots, hope they help.

Thanks
Simon

Did you change the color of the plane to Black? Mec4d says to change the color to Black and remove the glossy. In your case, I think you want to keep the glossy, but I suspect the plane won't hide well as long as it's white.

    Thanks,

Set base color to black.. that helped alot..

not it just need to fiddle with some more settings i guess.. it is a bit to much mirror like.. but still like glossy.

@SimBruun, Try adjusting the Glossy Reflectivity. Cut the current value in half, and see what you get.

    Hi L'Adair

Thanks for all your help :)

It is getting better and better.

    Glossy Reflectivity = 0.40
    Backscattering Weight = 0.075

I really like the reflection now..

But I fell like she is floating a bit over the floor. like she is not really connected..
I feel like the shadow/reflection shoud be darker the closer they are to the model, like all black, when next to her skin. maybe i can make another shadow catcher for that.. or perhaps just a question of better lighting.

    Hi again.

    Think i'm satisfied now.

I ended up dublicating the plane, moved it 0.010 i y-direction. and set Translucency Weight = 0.3

This gave me the darker shadows close to model.. Don't really know why, just messed around with the settings, and think this works for me. Would have prefered if it was one plane ofcause.

    So to sum up.
Two planes, both with the "Advanced iray node" script applyed.

    Plane 1:
    Enabled Iray Matte: On
    Y Translation : 0
    Glossy Reflectivity : 0.40
    Backscattering Weight: 0.075
    Translucency Weight: 0.0 (default)

    Plane 2:
    Enabled Iray Matte: On
    Y Translation : 0.010
    Glossy Reflectivity : 0.5 (default)
    Backscattering Weight: 0 (default)
    Translucency Weight: 0.30

Again, thanks for helping me out.

    You're welcome.

I like the last one best, too. The one above it, where you said she looked like she was floating, looked to me like she was on a sheet of glass, with the floor a ways below her. Kudos for thinking outside the box.

With the second plane, she looks like she's really on the floor. And whether it's because you moved the second plane up, or maybe moved both a bit, the image is definitely better for not having that bright line of light where the floor meets the wall of windows.

    Well done.
