Well I was going to make it just for G2F and have it conform to her head but then realized that it would be an issue with hair poke through. So Instead I thought of just saving it has hat prop so that once you have it in place and scaled to fit over hair you can parent it to the head of any figure. The textures in the picture are just quickies because I wanted to see how it would look. I have some more tweeking to do but wanted to share my progress.

I think hair poke through is the main reason most seem to combine hats with hair as one prop. The trouble with just planting it on the head over the hair is hair has volume and is crushed by a hat. If you plant it over the hair the hat looks too big. The other option (although somewhat of a fiddle) is a custom transparency map for your favourite hair so you can't see the poke through.

Well there is always Deformers Plus: Hat Head. It's specifically designed to morph hair to fit inside of hats, bandanas, hoods, etc.

I went ahead and released that hat above without hair as a freebie. But wanted to see if I could make a simple hair (never made it before) to go with another hat model. The pic below is of an incomplete hat with hair that I am working on. The textures are just quickies to see how it would look. I have tons to do on the hat and hair still.
