    A beetle, that's awesome!
    Is it a coincedence that the last one rolled out of the factory last week?

    maybe my subconscious mind was aware of this

    though initially i think i modeled it because i thought "what could be a
    shape i could quickly model" and as often happens the initial shape
    was quick to model but the details are not

    Isn't that always the case? :)

    So, do you want me to list this on the Free Autos list now, or wait until it's out of beta?

    you could list it now it's quite functional ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HfaIxx-s2E8 )

    it needs the hand-brake (was forgetting this ) hinges here and there , and some details on the flatbed/box

    Now it is, then.

    (Well, not immediately "now" - I have to go to work today, and tomorrow's Christmas, and the day after is Boxing Day... but sooner than Daz Soon.)

    important note : apparently i didnt rig the steering properly

    there will be an updated version soon ... after xmas

    though if you use the brand new mcjChangeOrient script you could do it !

    https://sites.google.com/site/mcasualsdazscripts3/mcjchangeorientation

    or you can save this as fixsteering.dsa and run this script

    var node = Scene.findNode( "steering" );
    if( node )
    {
     node.setOrientation( new DzQuat( 0.25882, 0, 0, 0.965926 ) );
     node.setOrigin( new DzVec3( 40.866676, 159.39169, -68.6935577 ) );
    }

    Thank you so much for sharing this, Casual :)

    The full-seater version was a key part of a short film I did years ago. The cast and crew rode it from London to Cornwall and back :lol:

    coming up next

    on the right is a Software/Cartoony render of the Amywagen, you can see some parts come out black

    In Poser they probably come out as invisible --

    they would also come out as black if you applied certain complex shaders

    but with the version you have presently, using non-cartoony Software or hardware renders they look ok

    ----------------

    in version Beta2 of the Amywagen this will be fixed

    also, some faulty polygons which also come out as black will be fixed

    and the steering rotation axis will be fixed

    Hi, I'm using it on the latest DAZ Beta (4.6.2.72) but I have a couple of problems...

    1) The script to fix the steering wheel is not working. The log says:

    WARNING: Script Error: Line 5
    WARNING: SyntaxError: Parse error
    WARNING: Stack Trace:
    ()@:5
    Error in script execution!

    2) A lot of parts of it appears black in the preview window http://img198.imageshack.us/img198/1134/h1er.jpg but the rendering is correct http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/1738/ujmz.jpg

    Ok, it's not a big problem, but creates problems when trying to place a character inside it:(

    you possibly forgot the closing bracket } at the bottom

    var node = Scene.findNodeByLabel( "steering" );
    if( node )
    {
     node.setOrientation( new DzQuat( 0.25882, 0, 0, 0.965926 ) );
     node.setOrigin( new DzVec3( 40.866676, 159.39169, -68.6935577 ) );
    }

    the beta2's materials which will be posted tonight will have better materials

    well that's sad, the script i use to package the props does not retain the neat tilted rotation axis

    which explains why some may have noticed the doors get un-hinged when you open them and the steering is not really steerable

    .... so i'll fix that

    but ... in other news, the mcjAmyWagenBetaTwo ... is 99% ready

    improved materials, improved material names,

    improved rendering for cartoony renders and for surfaces which render one of the double-sided surfaces as black

    improved geometry

    Apparently, the "orientation" parameter in the PP2 files is disregarded by Daz Studio and possibly by Poser.

    ( so the tilted rotation axis get lost in translation )

    what i'll do is : rotate the steering to make it horizontal, export it as an obj, re-import it, rotate and re-position it.

    same for the doors, and mirror parts, save this as mcjAmyWagenBetaTwo.PP2 using the PP2 Exporter.

    ---
    only use the following code if you have a good idea of what they do !

    short script to make all objects in the scene invisible except the primary selection

    var node = Scene.getPrimarySelection();var allnodes = Scene.getNodeList();var n = allnodes.lengthfor( var i = 0; i < n; i++ ){ if( allnodes[ i ] != node ) { allnodes[ i ].setVisible( false ); }}

    code to make the objects with tilted hinges stand straight

    var node = Scene.getPrimarySelection();var yrotvec = node.getOrientation().getYAxis();var rotToAlignToWorldY = DzVec3( 0,1,0).getRotationTo( yrotvec )var noderot = node.getWSRot()noderot = noderot.multiply( rotToAlignToWorldY )node.setWSRot( noderot )

    code to orient the zeroed-Orientation object like the tilted-hinges object
    and copy its Origin

    var donorNode = Scene.getSelectedNode( 0 );var receiverNode = Scene.getSelectedNode( 1 );var donorY  = donorNode.getOrientation().getYAxis();var rotToAlignToWorldY = yrotvec.getRotationTo( DzVec3( 0,1,0) );var noderot = receiverNode.getWSRot();noderot = noderot.multiply( rotToAlignToWorldY );receiverNode.setWSRot( noderot );receiverNode.setOrigin( donorNode.getOrigin() );

    well in the end i used Nulls, but it turns out they don't have much of a drawback

    i mean you still select the door and rotate it and the Null is not involved

    ------

    mow that i think of it, the fact that the bottom part of the flat bed is not tall enough
    is a more serious problem than i thought, no space for the motor !

    Well, I suppose the worst part of it is writing so much code, and in the end not being able to use it:(

    the little scripts and mcjChangeOrientation and mcjParent and mcjMakeTarget were all used,
    but in a final step i wrap the steering inside a null node,
    the null node is tilted 30 degrees

    from the user's point of view its the same, they select the steering and animate the Y-Rotation of the steering

    for doors that close without overshooting, and constant-speed rotations setInterpolation is essential

    pedals didnt need modifications

    i rig the mirrors, fix the material names and post the version "Beta Two" tonight

    not shown, the shift stick, not modeled, the handbrake

    being parented to the door which takes care of the hinge tilt, the nirrors didnt require null nodes
