Title edited as PC has onboard graphics anyway
My PC is cactus
or maybe just my 980ti is
crashes to black monitors now just opening the start menu to look to load a program
am still trying to diagnose the issue and will try another old GTX 750 I have but I might be working in safe mode at this rate until I can buy a new card or preferably PC
(leave the 750 in this one if that works and later build a better Win10 one)
I am just trying to spend money on the right fix, if something else is wrong not the card don’t want to waste my cash

For some reason, I'm not able to figure out how to voluntarily start my laptop in safe mode. Its keyboard is different from my other old (dead) desktop, and does not have keys labeled for funciton keys. I tried following instructions found on the web for Windows (repeatedly hit escape during sartup) but that didn't work.
Sorry, I can't test for you right now.
F8 ?
F11 for me
it usually says under the bios screen when it flashes up
I will test this myself tomorrow if replacing my 980ti with my 750 doesn’t work
I have no keys labeled as function keys.
Where did you find that keyboard?..
up the top above the number keys on every computer keyboard I have ever seen F1 to 11
Toshiba laptop, thought it was reasonably common laptop when I bought it back in the day.
Must be some other way then
Yes. But do the users know? Of course not.
Pull the battery out forcing a shutdown?
maybe.....
you have an Fn key?
Try the following....
Hold down Shift Key and restart computer.
Click on Troubleshoot, then Advanced Options.
Click on See More Recovery Options, then Startup Settings.
click on Enable Safe Mode, then click on Restart button on same page.
_ good , thing then _
