This is what I get when I add the My DAZ 3D Library folder runtime to the Content browser.
If I add the folder as Content instead of a Runtime I believe it shows only the Genesis figures in the DAZ People folder.
So what do I have to do to get this mapped just right?
I am pulling my hair with this thing. I truly don't want to have to map a runtime or content folder several times to see all my content. Which is what I think is happening here.
Any help will be appreciated.
Oh, I did read several threads about this error here but most seem to be from the C8.1 days.

Carrara doesn't read triax CR2s. Triax being Genesis, Genesis 2, Big Cat, Horse 2, etc.,
What Carrara does read are the same as above but in duf format.
Triax (Genesis) don't load at all in pre-8.5 versions of Carrara.
I add the folders twice. Once as content and once as runtime. For the genesis stuff, I use the content folder. For older stuff and poser stuff I use the runtime.

Yeah, I was afraid of that.
Then the stuff is not named correctly once added, it gets named just Runtime, Library, etc., I have several Runtimes. Is there a way to rename them once they are added?
I believe there was a file I manually edited once, I think it was for my shaders. Can't seem to find even that file now since I installed Carrara 8.5 Pro thru DIM. Maybe I can rename the Runtimes thru editing such a file?

I found the file, it's called Preferences.txt in:
C:\Users\[UserName]\AppData\Roaming\DAZ 3D\Carrara 8.5
There is no way to rename the entries. I don't use Carrara often so I was hoping to not have to guess which Runtime is what. Oh well, another in the long line of where the hell is "x" when you need it. :)

Well, the original "runtime" folder was inside a directory called Poser.
So When you add the runtime, you don't add the folder Runtime, you add Poser and select runtime as the type.
So when making multiple runtimes, you essentially make a folder, give it a name, and drop your runtime folder of stuff in there. That's where the names come from.
Daz Install Manager - Installing Custom Poser Runtimes talks all about this stuff.
Personally, I keep all of my Genesis related installations to a single place, the default DIM directory "My DAZ 3D Library". That folder also contains a runtime. So when Carrara adds that automatically as both a content location and a runtime location, we get this:
My DAZ 3D Libraray (this one is for content, meaning Genesis)
My DAZ 3D Library Runtime (this one is for Poser stuff)
So since I don't like mixing and matching the two content style in the same directories, I make my own runtime folders, which are simply folders that hold a runtime, each with a specific name.
When I install to my runtimes using DIM, I actually install Poser and DS versions of everything. So if I have Carrara Auto-detect my runtimes, I get the following:
V4
V4 Runtime
M4
M4 Runtime
Animals
Animals Runtime
etc
Here's how it looks in Carrara and in the folder where I store all of my runtimes. The folders on the right are the runtimes, and the left is how they show up in Carrara with an auto detect. Note that the top two entries in the content tab were placed there by Carrara (or by DAZ CMS?) which is the default DIM installation folder. I use that for all of my DAZ Triax stuff; Genesis, Genesis 2, their support items like hair, clothes and poses, textures, etc., plus DAZ Horse 2 and Big Cat 2. These all are DAZ 3D Triax rigged figures and use that same "content" style of file organization.
The folder of folders on the right side of the screen shot is all of my Poser content files, organized into various runtime structures.

Yes, I know about the Runtime structure, I was just thrown by a loop with Carrara because when I added them automatically it picked up a lot of extra stuff, like Reality folders, etc., and then it picked up Runtimes and gave (or gives) them the same names, like:

I noticed last night before I went to sleep what was going on, more or less, but your explanation helps to make sense of what's going on, some.
Why then when I add some manually I get names like libraries, when that is not the name of the top Runtime folder? I don't know.
Anyway, I think I might just have to scrap all my Runtimes and start over. Get ideas from what you are doing with your Runtimes. But that I feel is such a waste of time.
It certainly can be a LOT of time, but if things aren't in an order that is easily followed, I wouldn't call it a waste.
Just as a helpful tip, every time I've completely obliterated my runtime folders to start over, I've taken the extra hours to back them up first - just in case I find out in the beginning that a complete redo is not really what I need.
Hmmmm... The thing about Carrara and runtimes is that it needs to have a folder "runtime" directly inside. So in my "V4" folder, which I call my V4 Runtime, when I open the V4 folder, runtime is one of the folders within. That is the only one that truly matters. If I want to add that runtime to Carrara, I select the V4 folder, not the runtime within.
Sorry if I'm over-explaining - but this is some really important stuff to nail down right away.
The article that I wrote explains how to use the DIM to create runtime designations, which can greatly reduce the time it takes to start all over again. Especially if you use fairly broad categories like I've done. Some folks even break them down more - having one for hair, for example. Well I wanted to follow that advice until I started to do it. I've found that it's much easier (for me, that is) if I look in my V4 runtime and find all of the hair that I have for V4 within, that to go to a Hair runtime and try to figure out which is compatible. So if I set up a separate Hair runtime, I'd need to make one for V4, V3, V2, M2, M3, M4, etc., even though some hair products overlap and are compatible with several figures, some are not. So I install hair that works for V4, V3, and M4 into my V4, V3, and M4 runtimes, for example.
To do this using DIM, I simply uncheck "Delete Installer Files after Install" until the last one.
On that note, I love using DIM, and I often commented that, if I use DIM on a directory, I ONLY use DIM on that directory. I have changed. The only directory that I protect in such a way is the default DIM directory "My DAZ 3D Library", where I install all of my Genesis stuff. For my runtimes, If I buy something from renderosity for my Environs runtime, that's where I put it, even though I've used DIM to install all of my DAZ 3D environmental props and items as well.
