woah no one told me cans keyframe a colo(u)r change in diffuse channel. this solves so many problems
so i guess next question, can save blinking colors in nla clip
or can save a pose of every channelcept the texture map
You can keyframe almost everything in the shader tabs
including glow channel colour and intensity if using an operator
and use image series
in displacement even
its probably my most used feature in animation as works in other render engines too like Octane

I have saved various animated shaders and could use an NLA clip not a pose as such
might be able to notepad hack a single frame. mebbe

you want to save a shader you just save a shader
if you don't want it animated you remove the keyframes
dunno why or how you would save a pose for a shader
but if you wanted to change the animation to one you could do an NLA clip for it but it would be for just that shader

image series on a prop is the real fun stuff.
scifi funk made a tutorial on it. avi on a blimp.
his tutts are down, rummaging thru old flash drives for it.
Avi gives me nothing but grief in Carrara.
why I use image series
you seem to see no issues maybe you have better codec packages with your expensive video editing softwares
I render stills, paste 'em together in Pinnacle.
i using the SONY software. until i can get my mini mac
image series, you go to every frame to upload an image in shader room?
or you upload the whole sequence at once?

that sounds more realistic.
i have a personal rule of 10 seconds. if is 300 frames or less i render uncompressed avi.
i didn't put money into gpu, went for the ocatcore. octane does look nice tho
don't need a great GPU if not using a GPU based renderer
it just worked out cheaper for me to settle for less CPU and the price of Octane with a decent card
I actually love Carrara native engine but would need a multi Xeon render farm to get the times

started a site folder for Carrara3dX
about to try shader on other pc ... aww it added frames, but not the key frames, applied omly the first red frame
tha nla tab doesnt show when i select clor track or the object
a lil bummed it didnt work. on other pc was abl to apply it to 2nd object in same scene
when i save the cube to tray, animated shader saves with it.
so i guess one workflow would be to load in the cube to bring the shader in

NLA you need an animation group
odd the shader didn't save with keyframes
tried grouping the shader track with the cube to make animation group. group is grayed out
woulda thought anything with keyframes would activate the nla tab.
mebbe a 2nd shot of jamieson will revv it up
i want it to do more than change colors
want shimmering with noise speckes and turbulence
As far as I know (...which isn't very far...) animated shaders can't be part of an NLA track, despite evidence they *possibly* can be. I started a thread a while ago, but I think the concept is a dead end, or was never fully implemented.
(Pure speculation on that last part...)

The high tension powerlines I follow to the shops are sizzling in the rain, I was imagining Tesla coils sparking and crackling
so far, the only thing works is to set the shader on an object. save the obj,
bring obj into fresh scene to bring in the shader, then apply the shader to obj desired
tried again to save as shader, only saves the first frame
and i just noticed, lol, selecting shader in bottom shader tab, shows all the instances the shader is used on
attached is the primitive, if anyone wants to test bringing it into scene for the animated shader. (not really zipped, manually typed zip extenstion)
