First render of one of my fantasy lands / settings...

I have been a long-time "user" of Daz (ie. lots of plans and purchases, not a lot of follow-through), but only recently got into it again so I could create character portraits of PCs and NPCs for the fantasy world I am creating for my D&D campaign with my wife and brothers....

Thought I'd share my first illustration, depicting my wife's character Lorelei looking out at her home city of Marasonne (used combination of Daz Studio, Photoshop, and 3DS Max; Kitbash steampunk assets for the city; a ship model from Unity asset store; Daz models Virginia, Sienna Hair, High Fantasy Cloaks, Asteris Outfit, and Dark Fantasy Weapons; and a creative commons photo of black beach sand in Maui)

It was fun... going to make some more!

Another render, this time as a portrait of the Lorelei character.. the background is just a placeholder, because its actually a modified rendered image from Kitbash and I wanted to render the model myself, but had trouble importing it into Daz as an OBJ or FBX from 3DS Max... anybody have advice for how to do so, especially regarding textures/materials? When I exported from 3DS as OBJ, it imported okay, but is invisible (only shows the geometry outline when I mouse over it in Daz); I tried changing some sort of opacity, but it was "Cutout opacity" and all that did was assign the model garish colors, not the actual materials....

Meanwhile, when I tried to import it as an FBX, there were multiple problems: (1) got warnings from 3DS saying some materials could not be embedded; (2) when I tried to import it, Daz seemed to freeze and I had to force-quit the application

Anyway, here's what it was SUPPOSED to look like. (Daz models are Virginia, Sienna Hair, Asteris Outfit, and Dark Fantasy Weapons)

PS. Used same pose for both renders, a premade one (though I had to modify a little after applying Virginia morphs) from the Dark Archer asset
