From my 3D render (you can see after the other files... to compare !), some interesting variations :

Sure I can modify the (more 2D) render at the top of this thread too :

Great work. How long did the conversion of the cowboy take?
The cowboy looks spectacular.
Could you share some details about how you did it, please.
I would love a shader material post filter in Unity that could convert a set of PBR material imported from various DAZ Studio content I have interactive licenses for and output that cartoon cowboy and cartoon rock and so on. It looks totally hand drawn to my eyes (and probably most people's eyes as well).
Thanks.
Once I have found the right parameters and effects I need at least...15 seconds... to render the last cowboy.
I'm trying to improve all of this. Here are some different samples !
1- a 2D cartoon texture from the handpainted one below : (It works on a lot of textures but not on grass textures, surprisingly !?!)

2- on the famous Emotiguy :

3- a 2D or 3D warrior :

4- Various renders from the same 3D picture :

5- Quick test on a landscape from my educational game (the third one looks like in an old movie.)

Excellent. You have something similar, to what Algovincian made with his renders.
So these are straight renders and not post work. Amazing.
No. This is postwork... from 3D Daz renders. Here is the famous 3D Universe Toon mouse rendered in Daz first (as you can see on the second picture !).

Can you see a difference between these 2 files !?!

This is the PhotoDonut product at Smith Micro I think. It looks improved though.
How are you accomplishing these effects? (And if you'd like to talk to other people doing similar work, a lot of us hang out over at the More Non-photorealisitic Renders (NPR II) forum).
My participation to Halloween... with my old 3D file transformed into an interesting 2D style :

I think you did a very good approximation of that look. I think it's even stronger when smaller.
You're right with smaller picture. Thanks.
I'm just working on my usual pictures to better see the difference between each transformation and software I use.
For example below is my best (I think) 2D picture from my 3D render... and with nice outlines too (the most difficult to have) :
from this now so "boring" 3D render :

These pictures look great. What software are you using for these 2D artwork "drawings" ?
Every day I'm playing with all of this I find another way to do ! You can see here an improvment on Bruce (then applied on Mama Creole) :

Did you test the great TafiAvatar Ceator ? I made this from it with the new clothes of the last update :

Here to compare with the comments of mmitchel....... : a small and a big picture ! Indeed it's cool on a smaller picture !
