Shader Doctor / Skin Doctor strange behavior

A question came in on my forum:

Hello, I have downloaded the trial version of Shader Doctor (1.4).I have tested it with some David 3 textures. In many cases it works perfectly, but with some textures the head becomes nearly invisible, while the eyeballs, brows and teeth remain visible… I wonder if I do something wrong, or if there is some problem with the textures.

With the Shader Doctor/Skin Doctor, you really can’t have the “Consolidate Shaders on Load” feature turned on. What happens is that a shader ends up shared between a skin domain and an eye domain. The eye domains come after the skin ones, and so you end up with a mess. Turn off “Consolidated Shaders on Load” and do that manually AFTER you apply the “doctor” functions.

In other news:

Things seems to be settling down in my real job - beginning of the year is always crazy, worse even than quarter-end which is always a pain. I'm getting back around to my Carrara queue, and currently, I have:

- Add "Summed Area Table" to the texture filtering options in Advanced Shader Tweaker. I personally don't like that setting and can't recommend using it, but I've had a couple of requests.

- Make "Optimize Shaders" optional in the Advanced Shader Tweaker. The trouble is, unless you use the tweaker as the very first thing you do after loading, then the shader optimizer will mess up your changes. I do recommend that you look at what the shader optimizer does - not every channel works the way you might think it does.

- Get the MDD format patch ready for release. I've had enough people with problems report that the beta helps that it's probably worth getting it out to everyone.

- Poser Helper / Pose Exporter / Pose Transfer: patches and Genesis support. Ugh... I can't get one set of code that works for both: I'm going to have to just split the code into two entire branches, one for Poser and one for Genesis/Native rig.

    Thanks Fenric.
I must say, I'm rather excited to hear that you're working on Pose code for Genesis! I'd be willing to pay extra for that!

I would be willing and more than happy to pay extra for that as well.

In addition, I am very pleased that you are working on the Advanced Shader Tweaker too. I truly look forward to the new version.
