Hexagon good for detailed texturing?

I've just made my first shirt following a tutorial for hexagon. My next step is to add texture to it. I've seen some basic tutorials on how to do it, but what if I want to do more advanced clothes when I'm more experienced. Can I still use hexagon for that purpose or do you recommend other software?

Well, after you have UV mapped your object, you have 2 ways of texturing it.
The first, and very common one, is to load the UV map in a 2D software (Photoshop, Gimp, Painter or whatever) and paint the texture over the map.
The second one is to paint directly on the object (in 3D). I recommend a dedicated software for it. Blacksmith 3D or 3D Coat or something like that.
Hexagon has some 3D painting on board, but it is very simple and limited. Especially for high quality and detailed textures, Hexagon is not really useable.
I guess Photoshop is the alternative if I want to be really specific with details on jeans clothing (like seams, pockets, or zippers for jackets etc)?
If you want to paint in 2D on your UV map, then any 2D painting software will be fine. It does not have to be Photoshop. But if you already own it, it will do a good job and you dont have to look for something else.
