Weird view/camera issue
Hello all. I don't know if this is the right place for this but here goes...
I don't know if anyone else has this problem, or knows how to fix it, but something a little bit weird is going on with my Daz Studio.
Quite often, when I click on the orbit/rotate tool, the view will jump radically upwards so that the viewport is pointing at the ceiling. I've noticed that if the mouse is completely still when I click the tool this does not happen, only if there's a little bit of movement in the mouse as I click. I thought maybe it might be my mouse or mouse drivers, but after trying excessively in Windows and other software and games I can't reproduce the problem.
I don't remember it happening in 4.5, only after I updated to 4.6 a couple of months ago. I'm running the latest version.
Thanks for any advice.
Stebloke.

I wonder if this is related to a mouse issue I am having in Studio 4.6 - moving a slider in the "parameters" pane will cause the another object to be selected.. or the value being changed will suddenly shoot off the scale. I have seen the problem you describe as well.
Are you running Windows 8/8.1? I know there are mouse issues around the acceleration curves for the mouse.
My own feeling is that Studio does not handle mouse movement transitions from the OpenGL viewport to the application panels..
I really hope someone at DAZ can sehd some light. This makes scene composition impossible at times.
EDIT : - on a whim, I plugged in another mouse (same brand, Logitech, but model with a 1500DPI setting) Driver updated, and as of now the problem SEEMS to have gone away, at least with the high DPI mouse.. will keep testing...
For issues like this think two fold. First as it seems linked to the mouse in use check for up dated drivers for that mouse. If that does not seem to be the solution check for up dated graphic drivers for your GPU card. If that still does not seem to help check your mouse settings, especially the acceleration and sensitivity settings. If that still does not seem to help try the Daz Studio settings for Display performance if on Default try Best. That is all I can think to check for this issue. Hope it helps.
Thanks Mate..
Narrowing it down, I THINK its an issue with Win 8.1 and the way it handles the mouse, especially with DPI scaling .. I have a variety of mice and can play with those. Graphics drivers are the latest.. There is a hotfix I can try in 8.1 as well..
Will keep testing and report as it goes..
Glad I stumbled across this thread, I have been having some weird issues as well mainly with moving cameras.
I use a Logitech gaming mouse and Windows 8.1, just updated the SetPoint drivers and all seems good now.
Thanks for the tips Jaderail.
I'm using Win 7 64 bit. I don't have any mouse drivers installed, and am using just Windows default. I always turn off any mouse acceleration as I hate it. I do however have graphics tablet drivers installed if that would have any effect, so I'll see if they need updating.
I never thought about graphics drivers. I'll update them, but the AMD support site seems to be down just now.
Just got me confused as it never happened with 4.5. Nothing else on my machine has changed except updating to 4.6.
DAZ Studio 4.6.2.118 has better support of the GPU's it supports built in. That could be why the OpenGL viewport is now responding differently in the new version. It had no effect on my PC I have seen, but then I am not using every bell and whistle on my OS or in DS either. I'm old school and do not care for all the new things that Windows (Areo) and DS (per pixel shading) can do on screen. A Test render in DS still gives me the info I need before I do a final render.
