Sinestro flys in Iray!

I've been doing some work on DC Superheroes and I realized something that was just wrong. When I started working on a passion project of mine, I was modeling a Green lantern suit for the Genesis 8 Male and I ended up with something I was really happy with.

Green Lantern

Everyone always does the heroes, but the villains kind of get passed on. I'm still working on the GL Materials so I'm not ready to share that one yet, but while I was working on it I realized that I didn't have a villain. So I put Hal aside for a little bit and got to work on Sinestro. His suit was a lot easier to model because of it's simplicity and before you know it I had a finished product. It's not a supersuit texture --I modeled the whole thing from scracth to fit the Genesis 8 Male. I have to say that when I'm ready to do a render with Hal Jordan, he's going to have a villain worthy enough to be in the render with him.

  • Work continues, but I'm really pleased with how Green Lantern is coming out. Take a look.

That looks pretty good! What tools are you using? The green texture looks specifically well done.

  • I do most of my work in Nevercenter Silo. Sometimes I use Modo or Maya when I need a specific function, but I use them sparingly. I just find that Silo suits the way I work. Despite it's flaws, it's a clean, well thought out modeling program that doesn't allow me to get distracted when I'm working on modeling something. The materials came from Substance Painter. All of the materials are separate so you can amend them if you like I chose to do a single 4k texture which worked out quite nicely.
