PaperWhiteGraphite's WIP Thread
Hi! So, I've been lurking aroud and using Daz3D off and on for the last . . . 2, almost 3 years?
I've thought about making an art thread before, but I didn't feel that my work was really up to snuff. But I decided that 2020 is going to be my year of sharing! Even if it's my weird interests! Even if it's not a particuarly successful image!
There's also the fact that I've spent way, WAY to much on the last couple of Daz store and Renderosity store sales . . . I need to feel like it was money well spent . . .
Be warned all ye who enter: the title is not a joke!. It's mostly just the Vladimir model and it's mostly just Orc / fantasy Viking themed!
Another warning: Nothing is historically accurate and honestly I don't even attempt it. Always remember that no matter what the render is, there is probably an orc or a dragon slightly off camera. Or maybe the dragon is taking the picture, you dunno.
Note: The name of this thread used to be something to the effect of "It's Probably Just Orcs" but I was afraid that sounded . . . weird.
Here's an orc!
Comments
So I figured out ( read: looked up ) how to post pictures in the comments properly. I also know that there's a thread out there that people use to post attachments, but I'm a too big of a chicken.
These are two of the first renders I did of 2020, back around January 15th. I had actually completely forgotten about them! This was before I figured out how to use the LIE, so they're not orcs lol
I really like the Scifi Living series by Captain Blackbeard on the store. I had a lot of fun in January playing around and making all kinds of interesting sci-fi things. But in the end, I always come back to fantasy. Can you tell the first render was the first time I had ever seriously rendered a scene? lol The pose is so stiff!
I actually did this one last night. It was after I figured out that I could half my render time by rendering it smaller. I'm not looking for actual gallery size images anyway most of the time. Especially since I have no idea what I'm doing.
His skin looks like one of those old Stretch Armstrongs. I feel like if I pull on his ear it would stretch. I'm not sure what I did. Also, all of the texture on the default skin is gone. Hm.
Decided to try and figure out lighting.
After some editting:
So everyone in my family is practicing social distancing and quarantined until further notice-- but I just started a new job in an 'essential' field. So it's been hard to do any kind of artwork, much less mess around with renders and such. Anyway! Here's The Sorceress/Witch from a story that I had cooked up:
The one on the top is without any postwork and isn't a 'complete' render because I don't really care lol! The one on bottom is a complete render with some postwork. Btw, I love how her makeup turned out, thank you, youtube makeup gurus.
