That's pretty cool, Sandy!  The truly amazing part to me is the 42 SECONDS to render the animation... versus in iray I can't even render  a single still image in 42 seconds.  Filament really opens up animation possibilities in DS like never before!

I rendered an old animation with Filament, it turned out not too bad.

The original in Iray with the iterations turned way down to 100 I think.

Filament is certainly way faster :)

So looking at my Studio- since I started over, I'm limiting what I have installed. Just for fun- how many products do you actually have installed in your studio?  What do you typically load?

Mine is 928. Mostly G8F females. I will be starting to load a lot of the lighting presets soon. I have a small scattering of sets too. So mine is mostly G8 gals and lights. Some sets.

    What's yours?

OMGosh, Charlie- you sent me a message just now and it said not found- my entire Inbox is gone! Talk about forum glitches!  I don't know when that happened but I was chatting with someone yesterday, so I think this just happened? And no, no one was talking glitches. We were talking about dogs playing in snow. I have a 14 year old dog, Geico, who I took to the vet Friday morning and thought I'd have to put to sleep. Thankfully, it wasn't a stroke, it was a deep inner ear infection and Geriatric Vestibular Syndrome making him stagger.  So check and see if your inbox messages are gone. I have kept the ones from Jaderail and I will be totally sad if all those are lost!

Edit- it's back. Geez, talk about incompetence. Leave the forums alone!!!! I'm not mistaken the inbox got zapped, I logged in and out several times and checked it multiple times with hard refreshes.

For Content Library:  Please check and see if you have Action Heros Poses in Genesis 8 Female poses? Also in the Genesis 8 Male? It's not there either in Poses under its name. (It's supposed to be. I checked the readme, it isn't supposed to be under the vendor name, and it isn't there either)  You can only find it in Content Library under the Products section. If you don't have it, I'm going to edit this post and @ the vendor and post it. I'm not filing a ticket, the vendor can fix their mistake (or not. Then you remember it next time you have an option to buy their products (that you have to hunt down) But let's see if this is just my studio being quirky first.

I've exited the studio several times and reinstalled. No love. Double check for me please.

My inbox is OK. Did you maybe just get logged out and are in some kind of limbo state? Try logging out and back in.

@barbult   Nope, I was logged in. Checked that at the time. I did mention in the edit that it came back about two minutes later. But thanks for the suggestion :)  Sometimes I do overlook all the options LOL.

Somehow I missed the edit. I see it in my quote, but I didn't see it at the time. Another weird thing.

    6160.

Having had something hinky happen to my content categories, it was necessary to start over.  A painfully slow process when time is limited.  As I catalogue, I am rating each product and uninstalling those that rate poorly.  At the begining of my DS experience I didn't know the value of trying a product within 30 days of its purchase.  That, and not understanding how the generations work, or don't work, together.  It will interesting (and quite possibly sad) to see what percentage of my purchases end up in the hidden filter of DIM by the time I am done.  surprise  I have a "master spreadsheet" so that I know which vendors have rated well and which products failed to meet muster.

I don't have the poses that you asked about.  I have found many products that have poor folder structures or complete in illogical places.  When I have reached out to vendors of such products, the response has typically been the folder structure was went to be that way. indecision

5695 or there abouts. Seeing the prior posts in this thread, 6000 seems like a saturation point given the current DAZ 3D Store products. Remember about 1/2 of that is Poser, Legacy, and such content, so not really separate products. My content, although I feel I have more than enough characters, humans in particular, is characters, hair, clothing, vehicles, sets, lights, poses, and none seems to predominate.

Right now my laptop that had the User Data refreshed and all metadata messed up, files partially loaded (have to delete, uninstall, reinstall to get into DS fully), but saving the metadata for the file that did not come with metadata, did not stick when I reloaded them. I have around 15,000 to 16,000 products. I am not sure I need the earlier generations to keep the conversions from Generations 3 and 4 upto G8 will work. But you know, I am seriously re-thinking not fixing those, and just uninstalling them.

I have the Black Flag Bundle, which is no longer sold at Daz, and adding metadata to it took over 5 hours Sunday. Then I found the same items in First Mate, Scarlett and The Cap'n didn't link to it and get the metadata too, so I need to add it in their files as well.

I have to think about this. Especially since Date of Purchase is messed up now (thanks Daz!).

    More snow overnight.

YES! Editing a post is fixed, and so is inserting an image into the post. Now stop messing with what ISN'T broken, Daz!

Also, be sure and test the cart to see what discounts you get. Some go to 65% (with 30% discount) and some go to 72%. So just shop the different sections and see what you get. I didn't shop the featured stores at all, it may be because some of the various section items are featured stores vendors, I didn't look. In a rush today to head out for errands.

Want to point out this product, someone just pointed it out to me- it's a good price and your loyalty will drop it even more. The Old Village Wishing Well.

I've been expecting loyalty discount for the new PC+ items but I guess that's not the case. Even doing something like adding the Wishing Well Novica mentioned & the Shape Splitter to my cart & such doesn't cause a loyaty discount. Fact is if the only thing I get loyalty discounts for in the DAZ Store are a tiny subset of products that are branded by DAZ 3D as 'loyalty eligible' then it's not a loyalty discount at all just a regular daily sale day like they do every non-sale day of the year.  They just changed the label from 'whatever sale hook last time' to 'loyalty discount' and expect me to run with it?

I'll take a second look at it. Edit-  Nope, it didn't. It had gone to something like 2.50 or so, but was probably one of those fluid situations. In the cart it ended up at the shown PC price.

Highly irritated with CS.  Today, all of my tickets in queue were closed with the generic response that many issues have been solved; Upgrade to the latest build and update the GPU drivers.  The issues weren't related and will not be addressed with either of those recommendations.

no      I'd ask on the store issue thread how many people that has happened to, and list each specific issue that isn't addressed. There have been numerous posts about customer service doing that, and it needs to stop. Did you do technical support, or just regular customer service?  Tech support got back to me in two hours with my DIM problem. If it's a payment problem, that is going to be harder to fix perhaps?  Some kind of interface with outside institutions?

I got a similar response from CS but I retested the scene with the technical problem in DAZ Studio in the latest DS public beta and it was still a bug so I told them as much and that kept the ticket open. Did they not ask you to please retest the error you reported to see if it had been resolved?

In the past, I have had reports closed with a rep telling me it was fixed or there was no issue. I went back over my report or tested the item again. Often it was a misunderstanding on what my report was about. I politely but firmly informed them of what I was trying to report. Those reports have been picked up by another rep and checked over and elevated generally.

I also will go back over my open reports on my own, check out the report and see if it is fixed and if it is, I will close the report with a note that I was not sure when it was fixed, but it works now. And thank them.

There have been times that they told me the fix went out in an update that never made its way into my copy of DIM, or made any update. Or I had to do convoluted deleted/uninstall/reinstall process to get it, or still not see it. That led to a frustrated rep telling me my only choice was to do a User Data reset and two weeks ago I did that and now I have an awful mess in Smart Content and in my Content Library. My frustration level with Daz is pretty high right now.  I have two weeks of new purchases I have barely been able to look at, much less play with.

They were (and are, because I tested and responded to each) tech tickets related to products; not the application  Sales support has been quite efficient whenever I have submitted a ticket.  Had one last week that was resolved in under 24 hours.  My annoyance was triggered by the fact that all of the closed tickets had the exact same message.  In general, it communicated that they weren't read, that someone was given the task of cleaning up/closing tickets. I have had tickets where the response is "that is how the PA meant it to be" or ones that even though the issue can be duplicated, it won't be corrected. Those can be annoying but you know that someone looked into the submit information. In those situations I live with it, fix it myself, or remove the product, making a note to watch out for similar issues with the PA in the future.

I used to be rather addicted to checking for sales and new products, but over the last couple of months Daz has done a decent job of curing that malady.  Now it doesn't faze me if I realize I didn't peek in to check out the latest promo.

On a completely different note, has anyone picked up https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-ayaan-hair-for-genesis-8-females and tried it out?  If so, I would be curious to your opinion.  Thanks!

Well, that was an experience. I love Ayaan Hair and it has three settings for dForce and fun color options. It simulated in about seven minutes. The outfit London Look is not a dForce which I picked by design. The character is newish, Clarity HD. I tried to use Neo City Alley, but my 1080 couldn't handle it and the hair together I think. It locked up and I thankfully had saved and killed Daz and reloaded the file, deleted Neo City and just used an HDRI and a Light set. This is really simple but I wanted to post it tonight for you @gitika1.

Been busy all day, just getting on at 11pm :)  Thanks Mary @memcneil70  for showcasing that hair. :)

For the buy 3 new/ still new releases and get additional 55% off that section of clothes, I went after all the Arryn and Onnel clothes, got 3 new things just to get the 72% off those clothes. I haven't checked yet, but over at Rendo there are usually additional texture sets by other vendors for the Arryn/Onnel clothes. If you type in the Daz product name, they'll come up in the search.

I did get the snow globe, because you can scale other items down and put it in there, just a thought.

What exactly IS a User Data Reset? What's it supposed to do, and what did it do to you? :(

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 4,115

@Novica, I honestly don't have a clue at this point. Maybe it was supposed to clean up mixed DIM/Connect usage? If that was the goal, it missed as most of my Genesis Morphs packs for all generations were lost in an uninstalled Connect limbo. I was unable to install them through DIM at all.

I had tried searching through Google forum threads on how to do it, and found people who swore by it. And I tried to follow their written instructions carefully. Maybe someone can drop by and give a better description on how it should be done and what the expected result is?

But with the mess Daz made of the wrong purchase dates, there is no longer a good way to sort Smart Content for new items. I am having to reinstall so many older items again sorting by install date is worthless, and even when I do that, right after a DIM download of a purchase, those new items rarely show up at the top of the pile now.

Thought I would do a review since I haven't done one in a while.  Images are default straight out of DS using Boss Pro lighting set.

Odeeta HD for G8F       Ellie Hair for G8F        Casual Autumn Outfit for G8F         Fashion Editor Poses for G8F

Odeeta HD: I like her face shape, although I think I would decrease her nose shape some its pretty severe to me.  She has some nice options with her but I do have some complaints.  The lipstick on the top does not follow the lip line, it goes straight across (see pic two).  Some of the lighter colors are not quite as noticeable but the darker ones are.  The metallic flake shaders are nice but you cant really use them with the eyeliner because they overlay the eyeliner.  The biggest pet peeve though is the eyebrows are painted on there is no off option.  She has a freckles option that looks good.  Body paints look good also although I did not spend much time with them.

Ellie Hair:  I like this hair style and it has style, movement and blow morphs.  It comes with 30 color options in a good variety and also some backlight and shine options. It has just few spots that are a little jagged in certain positions but nothing major and nothing off putting for a conforming hair.

Casual Autumn:  Cute outfit. The coat and shirt are dforce.  I tried to simulate in this image and it kept colliding so I gave up.  Even with the arms out to where it should not collide.  I did not spend a lot of time on this cause it really didn't need it for this image.  The outfit has good detailed textures on it.  The scarf kept curling under with the breast so unconformed it and positioned it that way.  I did notice in the PA's promos it was not doing that but I could not get it to go away with the morphs provided.  Only the one set of textures with the outfit.

Fashion Editor Poses:  Im pretty sure these have been reviewed before so im going to keep it short.  I love Those Things poses she/he has a high attention to details and they look natural. You can't go wrong picking up one of thier pose sets.

Wow, Odeeta looks lovely! I like her pale and realistic skin in particular.

It made me look at the rest of Eichhorn Art's store. I realise I hadn't paid attention to this PA at all; their promo style is not really to my taste and I tend to ignore young white lady characters unless the promo draws me in. But it looks like Eichhorn Art has some lovely skins in thir portfolio, now that I look at their work!
