props far away from their manipulation points

So, this has happened before, and now it's just annoying. I recently bought this, a DAZ product:

The props are significantly offset from their points of origin. See the attached screenshot. This is especially troublesome for objects that require a lot of subtle manipulations (like these). How can this be fixed? I tried editing the values in the pp2 files directly, but I just don't know enough about how they work.

Any help?

    I'm not really aware of anyway of correcting this within Daz Studio itself unfortunately.

    The way I do it when preparing props if I encounter this issue is to manually place the prop in the centre.
    Then Export the prop to obj. Then reimport using the same scale values paste on the materials from the original.
    And resave as a new prop. This will correct the handles. (This will also set scale or rotation changes as default)

    This process can be a little tedious with a large number of props and you need to be familiar with saving props in Daz Studio.

    I do hear your pain when trying to manipulate an object when its handles are way of centre.

    You can use the Joint Editor to move the centre point - the green blob with axes sticking out.

    Joint editor should work,, but why vendors offer handholds and weapons whithout adjusting the pivot point and rotation axis?
    After that they can save it with zero poze Actor as smart prop (wealable preset) I believe.

    I know most of vendor offer poze preset, and save as smart prop.
    but I often poze figure, then hope to exchange prop more fit to the curent scene.
    even though smart prop work , adjust weapon positon and rotaion for hand is really difficult,
    because of the strange center point, and rotation axis.

    If I have pozed actor already,
    adjust prop center point cause many difficulity. because already prop are pozing, then moving center point cause move the prop too.
    I must need to set prop zero poze once, then adjust center point,,,

    hope vendor have adjusted pivot point correctly untlii sell teme, for user play around their product
    with another pozing easy.

    That definitely helps, though it can be a bit tricky to get right. Most DAZ originals are great, so I'm honestly surprised that this kind of thing wasn't caught before release.

    Some sets, maybe not this one, but some sets were never designed by the PA to be used as parts only. They were designed form the start to be a single load and used that way. The offsets make the parts load in the proper places. That is often the case when items are like this one.

    Yes, that can be the case sometimes. Definitely not this one, though.

    Smart Prop items inherit the Figures pivot point as they were only designed to be loaded in Hand to the Figure. I too prefer that item's such as these come in two versions, Smart Propped and Free load items.

    These don't load in the hands of the figure either. Well, they load "in" the hand. Ish. But they aren't parented or anything. THAT would be useful, especially if it came with hand poses!

    Ah, it would be a set I do not have, I just assumed that they smart propped. I think the built to load into a set place is what is seen then. Which is really not needed IMHO as the Load file can do that. No need to build in place and then save, but I can see why it is done for sets of items that need to all match size and positions as they get built. I dabble at easy props myself.

    I tried one or two random items from the package, and noted that if you select from the menu Create > "New Group", you now have the item within a group, already selected even, which can be rotatated as expected. I haven't given this serious thought yet, but it looks like it might be a super-quick easy way to fake moving the center of rotation, at least sometimes?
