It's a commercial! The clips to the movie look okay, but I can't stand the motivational speaker-spiel!Perhaps, but there's actually very little of that in that clip... just a bit in the beginning and at the end.

Become vegetarian! Drive a sports car! Get a bangin' wife....
he is living the life in Southern California  it's raining in NYC and I just ate 4 chocolates.
:long: At least he is wearing a shirt in that video..
Hey maybe a "Carrara Bad Animation Festival" would make a fun contest. I might even dust off my copy... maybe I won't lose tract of my production frame this time (why can't it be Wygiwys..mmm. now that doesn't even look right). Of course you could have a door prize for whoever actually submits the best animation.
Like "Just for Fun", Previsual Renders A was simply a test of 'making a movie' using a bunch of test render animations, but these test renders were actually done in an attempt to create enough footage to make a mini video using the much changed Movie Maker for Windows, which I've decided never to use again. I feel that it was much better before they made it "Live". More accurately, I enjoyed using it in XP, but don't care for it at all in the Win 7+ Live version... but it was brand new back when I made this. It's probably been touched up a bit since then.
This was my first attempt (period) at making an animation. Although my own skills were very lacking then, it did make me realize that Carrara was to be my system of creating them, as it is perfect for it. For a fellow like me on a non-existent budget but with imagination begging to get out. A fellow with no formal training in the field but plenty of ambition to pick up on whatever I can as I go. I cannot afford the really expensive computers and software that broadcast professionals use. Carrara fills the gap for more than just a modeler/render/animation package. It includes stuff that must be done either with external apps or additional plugins. With the added benefit of the available plugins made for Carrara, it really gets powerful! I also use Project Dogwaffle Pro: Howler as my After Effects (etc.,) replacement. It fits my non-existent budget very well, and it never stops surprising me with all that it can do to my animation clips. Love it!
With Previsual Renders A, as horrible as it gets, I still like to watch it from time to time. Being my very first attempt, I like looking back on some of the expression work I did back then. It all leads us somewhere, right? We all must begin or we'll never be able to do it at all, for it takes practice ;)
Holly, I can't remember if a made my usual Big Buzz about that playlist of yours, but I just watched the whole list again and commend you for the effort. It's a fine collection and I always enjoy watching it.
It feels good for me to be back into it. This time I'm not so much in a rush. I'm just taking my time to do some really fun things according to my grand design, which is ever changing - and now even has a secondary path that branches off and does it's own thing, while also being somewhat tied to the other... so it's actually two productions going on at the same time, which is really fun.
sorry Holly, but that Heidie Ho one was actually largely iClone with Carrara rendered backgrounds.
cannot actually think of any of my 700 odd videos of any quality you could replace it with though
some more typical "Wendy" Carrara videos

I got into Carrara for visual FX... I was kinda icked out by the Poser mannequins (I still have lots of uncanny valley issues with them), but Carrara's lights and shaders were always clean and fast and it made AWESOME virtual sets.
The idea of Carrara being used to "animate" was a completely different genre back then - more emphasis on the camera and lights..., and it was being used in SO MANY production environments and graphics studios... It was used in a few indie horror and scifi movies for certain FX shots. Local TV stations used it all the time, so there were lots of flying logos and lens flares - things you would now probably do in After Effects.... I think it was an old Yahoo Group. Lot's of people use to post there. Carrara was a completely different community before DAZ.
I was hunting your youtube last night looking for stuff to put on Cafe... 700+ You are the EMPRESS of the INTERWEBS!
:ohh: OOH! Thank you for the links! That makes it much easier! <3</p>
I tend to do a lo of things in carrara but render in iClone or a mix of both
TUTORIAL! TUTORIAL! :cheese:
(article at Cafe!)
Here are links to a couple of animations that I have done with Carrara:

(The latter one has animation from around 4.00 done in Carrara).
Very cool, Phil :coolhmm:

(article at Cafe!)Oh absolutely! A compilation of Wendy's workflows would be the coolest thing!
Girl's got some incredibly nifty techniques and paths.... I'd love to see some Tutorials by Wendy Loves Cats!
I'm surprised I've never seen anyone refer to Restif Argenta's Vimeo channel (http://vimeo.com/user307826) whenever these moments of doubt for Carrara's animation capabilities necessitate references to the contrary. Unfortunately, even that channel exhibits only experiments and short takes, but for me they're clean enough to suggest that given the time and right resources, the animator could come up with a really nice short film. What I do wonder about is how Restif manages to get those really nice animation clips done, is it the lighting? Or a particularly powerful computer rig? Perhaps its all about an animator with a keen eye who is finding the best ways to get the best output out of the available tool set like in this clip where Fenric's ERC was used to good effect for automated muscle morphs: http://vimeo.com/85055556
Edited for silly ness
Thanks, I've loved doing animation in Carrara, though to get results I like has been a challenge. Vimeo closed my channel and I am looking for another host. For fun last year I did a bried 'Trailer' project for Keepers of Wrath. I've Posted it on Wistia for now. Here is the link: https://restif.wistia.com/medias/103s3gnc9t Carrara definitely has some set backs for animation, but some great things as well. Fully rigged, nice character models ready to go (DAZ/Poser) is a plus, landscape editor, nice and relatively fast GI rendering all play a part. Keep in mind, this animation is real rough and more of an idea than a finished product. But a lot of fun to do.
It looks like a promotion trailer of a superb feature film,… Excellent!
Carrara is far from being dead !
Yes, very nice. I also enjoy creating short animations with Carrara, and even entering them in contests like the 48 Hour Film contest. Yes, they are amateur level (as are virtually all the 48 Hour entries, all the rest live action), but its a very engrossing hobby. Story development, character creation/development, props, sets, lighting, action sequences, dialogue (unless I can avoid it), music, sound FX, special FX, ... Sometimes laying in bed and all of a sudden thinking (dreaming?) "Aha! I know how to set up that scene! Like Lynch did in 'Twin Peaks'! " Fun stuff indeed.
Nice job on this Restif, it has some very nice parts in it.
Dudu,
How are things over at Carrarators site, I started working on my animation again for that challenge which ended in May or June. I have a couple of clips to render and then add sound and edit but I should have my first animation done in a month or so.
Here's one I made (also a commerical). I definately could have made it better, though. Mainly the lighting to match the film.
Hi Mike, nice to see you back!
The things do not move so much on Carrarators for the moment…
We don't have challenges anymore and as you have seen (even here on DAZ forum), people are not very hot to take part in a common project.
Despite everything, if you need assistance, or if you want to launch a new challenge, you are always welcome on Carrarators!
