Black splotches in 3D Max 2011 Render result

Hi there,

I had a Genesis model exported as FBX, imported it and saving it in Max 2011 format. I saved it as 2011 Max, but my software is Max 2014. Then I rendered it. It looks okay in my PC, but in my colleague's PC (which runs Max 2011), the render result looks like the sample image I attached below. There are black splotches on his shirt and hand. My colleague said the normals seemed destroyed.

I don't understand what's happening here. How do I fix this? I welcome any suggestions and advice. :)

Well, first I have to ask if your colleague has a license for the content - it isn't permissible to hand over a file containing content from DAZ 3D if the recipient doesn't have a license of their own to use the content.

That said, looking at the render the black splotches do look as if they are polygons - if the mesh is double-sided they could be back facing polygons breaking through the front-facing layer, perhaps the two versions have different settings for back-facing polygons?

Hey Richard, thanks for the reply. Yes, my co-worker has a license for the content. And it appears that render result only appears in default scanline renders. When he used another renderer, the character looks alright. :)

Once again you saved me from a terrible headache. Thanks a lot! :D
