Polygon Group Editor - Adding texture images - Part II

I've just started to use the PGE and I'm trying to add a texture image to a newly created surface section. It seems easy enough to change colours, but putting an image into the diffuse doesn't produce anything.
I've searched the forum looking for a tutorial but didn't find one.
A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Is the object your applying the texture to uv mapped?
Hi Razor, thanks for the reply.
Erm no it's not.
You would need to UV map the object to use any image files on it.
Without UV's you will be restricted to just colors.
Though so, but had to ask. Thanks for the assist.
Part II
What do you know, just tried to add a new surface using the PGE, to a UV mapped surface. In the scene the front side looks ok but the rear needs to re positioned as I did on the front, using the offset and the tiles to scale the image to suit. I've got a reversed 'police' and though I'm able to create a new surface, I cant put a texture image onto it.
So...
Can someone please point me in the right direction.
(One surface two poly's) currently if I correct the back the front will move out of position.
Thanks.
Make it two surfaces so you can adjust them independently
I know I could chuck it back into Blender, just wanted to know how I could do it with the PGE tool. Because I cant get an image onto the newly created surface.
Yes, you should be able to - select the rear polygons, right-click, Polygon Assignment>Create Surface from Selected.
Something weird is happening then. I'll try again later. Thanks Richard.
Something weird is happening then. I'll try again later. Thanks Richard.I know of no way to add a new layer on a surface zone other than the LIE. If your item is only one poly deep and already a Surface the back can not be mapped different than the front, the front will just show through reversed. This is when depth or two meshes is needed.
IF UV mapped it should Wrap over the Item with the texture flipped to read properly. So two stamps of Police on one surface each stamp to a side as needed to show properly.
Thx Jaderail, Just messing with the PGE and thought I'd try to disassociate one poly from the other, but It seems that it doesn't work for me, as I wouldn't be able to hide only the texture from the back poly anyway.
The only thing you could do would be Flip the Normals ( PGE reverse the winding order) But then your just going to end up with the same problem on the other side again. Reversed and no why to fix it.
