Marlin's World

Thanks to Divamakeup for inviting me to try sharing some of my DAZ Misadventures. I discovered Poser 4 and DAZ3D (formerly known as Zygote) in 1999. I was newly married, at age 49.

We didn't have much money, so I barely had any money for DAZ Content. I'd been working on an idea for a cast of characters that I could use to make a parody of my own life. The main character is Marlin Fingle. Marlin's luck is worse than Murphy's luck (Murphy is associated with Murphy's Law!) Marlin needed a female antagonist. She would remind people of the sour-pussed women I've met in my real life. Here is a very old picture showing (Super) Marlin & Jill Chill. I didn't have money for Marlin's clothes, so I gave him PhilC's free boxers and I painted his bodysuit. I never figured exactly what super powers Marlin had.

I love to use weird names for my characters. Here's a better look at the original Jill Chill. Over the years, Jill became a more attractive woman who became one of Marlin's friends.

One might speculate that Jill and Marlin would become a couple.

Jimmy Jurk loved to harass Marlin. I still need to come up with a more "updated? version of Jimmy

After awhile, I decided Marlin needed a male friend. This is the most recent look for Rick Klick. (Dated 2019). I started this thread around 2 AM. I couldn't get to sleep right away. That's my excuse for babbling, and getting things out of chronological order. I reduced the size of the newer images. I hope they're not too large! To tell you the truth, Marlin and Rick are just two different aspects of the same person!

This is the most recent version of Marlin. I used Genesis for him. (I'm not sure which generation of Genesis he is.) Now Marlin looks more handsome, but he still has one wicked looking nose! I would like to use Marlin's characters in Moonshine's Diner. I've run into a few problems.

When I made Jill into a more friendly character, I still needed a grumpy woman. This is the latest version of Bitti Botti. She's wearing the 1950s waitress outfit.

Here's a short order cook who's another of Marlin's tormentors. Let's say he's the latest version of Jimmy Jurk?! I was getting a little tired trying to create all my own characters by spinning dials. This one might actually be Thomas for Michael 5, "straight out of the box."

Glad you decided to make a thread in the Arts place! I lie the diversity of your characters!

Linwelly, thanks for your support. Actually, I am worried that Marlin's World only has white characters. I've been afraid to have some ethnic characters portrayed in a funny or threatening way. I may just go ahead and make some ethnic characters. They can be good, bad, or just funny!

Oh my goodness! This is funny! :D I love the boxers, what a fantastic juxtaposition between a normally dignified "superhero" and a guy hanging out in boxers! I love the "dad bod" you gave him too! lol It adds to the fun. Nicely done!

The characters you've made are really fun! I like that you've named them in ways that reflect their personalities. :)

Divamakeup, remember what I said about my memory?! I forgot I'd already seen your post! Thanks again for your support.
