Problem with Elleth Hair on Gen2 Model

KeithorasKeithoras Posts: 12

Hi everyone,

I have, for a long time, used Elleth Hair for a customised character of mine based on the Genesis Base.
I recreated from scratch the character recently on the Genesis 2 Female Base.
The new version is incredibly more lively but there is one remaining problem: Glitches with Elleth Hair.
Changing the hair is not an option as it is now nearly a part of the character's personality.

Here are a few facts I have gathered:
- I know Elleth Hair is currently fully compatible only with Genesis Base (and not really intended to be used on Genesis 2 Base)
- I also know having "Victoria 4 for Genesis 2 Base" can help to solve many fitting problems for hair (like mentioned in this thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/34986/ ) and I have this add-on. It doesn't prevent the glitch.
- Elleth Hair is fine on a Gen2 Model... as long as the head stay in zero pose. But once it moves, it's a mess. (See below the post)

My question are:
- Can I easily fix this problem myself. And if yes, how ?
- In the case it's not easy to fix, would it be possible to make a Gen2 Model version (should I make an official request in another category of the forum)?

I would be very grateful to anyone who can help me on this annoying problem.
Many thanks in advance for your answer(s) ! :)

    You didn't say if this is Poser or Studio.

    If Studio: Is there any smoothing on? If not select the hair then Edit>Object>Geometry>Apply smoothing modifier. You can then increase the smoothing in the Parameters tab.

    There should be something similar in Poser IMO.

    Don't autofit the hair just parent it in place and resize and move it to fit.

    Hi Erdehel.

    Thanks for the answer!

    Indeed I use DAZ Studio (I always forget that there are Poser Users on this forum, sorry ^^').

    I've used the trick you gave me:
    I pushed the Smoothing iterations to the maximum (200).
    It doesn't solve the problem completely, but at least the render is a lot better ;)

    I will use it until (hopefully) this haircut will be adapted to the Genesis 2 Base (because there is also the problem if I start using wind simulation with the hair)

    Thanks a lot anyway! :)

    @scorpio64dragon:

    Don’t autofit the hair just parent it in place and resize and move it to fit.

    Thanks for the suggestion!
    It fixes the problem for the front hair. However...
    If I do that, I run into another problem (usually encoutered with long hair ^^').
    Even with the adjustments available for Elleth Hair, I can't adapt it to avoid the hair running through the body like in this situation (that's nearly the best I can do)

    Yeah, I know... Tricky situation :x

    Did you try to use the collision detection, that may help.

    This was working on Genesis, correct? Did you convert the hair to G2F from Genesis or from V4? Are you sure you used the same autofit options?

    @Erdehel:
    Yes, I tried to use the collision detection, and that didn't change anything (as it's not a collision problem with the model, but more a part of the hair attached to some invisible points in weird places after the autofit, it makes sense).

    @fixmypcmike:
    Elleth Hair was previously released for Victoria 4 as mentioned here.
    I tried to convert the hair to G2F, trying once with V4 autofit, and once with Genesis autofit.
    Same problem each time :(
    I must say I encounter this problem not only with this hair, but also with several outfits originally developed for V4 :(

    Hmmm - I ran out of ideas, can't help you more.

    I think there is something wrong with the hair. The only long hair I use is the Foxhair and that flows neatly around Genesis 2. Some broken strands but nothing like you showed us.

    Hi Erdehel,

    No problem if we can't find a real solution.
    You have already helped more than I expected ! ;)
    I think the only solution will be to have this haircut updated for genesis 2 female.
    I will cross the fingers for that ^^'
