Rory HD is loaded on every G8F

I picked up Rory HD for Genesis 8 Female, and she's great and all, but every time I load G8F the Rory head and body morph comes loaded in at 100%. Could be a new figure, a saved figure, a character preset, loading a scene, merging a scene - doesn't matter, she's loaded in at 100% every time. Is there any way to disable this? It's not much of a hassle, but it's annoying to have to zero it out every time I bring a G8F into a scene.

  • You should report this to Technical Support, so it can be fixed at source, but in the mantime a trick I was previously aware of, if you installed through Install manager or Daz Central (or manually), is to load the Developer version of Genesis 8 Female (so everything is zeroed if it doesn't have a non-zero default), click the gear icon on each of the Rory sliders to get Parameter Settings, and then set the Default value to 0. Now use File>Save As>Support Assets>Save Modified Assets.

    Thanks, Richard.

I've filed a Tech Support ticket in case anybody else is/will be having this same issue. Thanks for the tip, I'll give that a try next time I have a clear scene. Appreciate it!

Edit: I can confirm that you're trick works like a charm - many thanks!

Way to be on the ball! Good on ya, thanks!

She's great and all, and I've got a few renders planned out using her, but I don't need her in EVERY scene haha

I do not know. I turned in the fix the day the product came out. Please follow Richard's brilliant instructions to fix it yourself at this time.

    OK

Meanwhile I fixed all the same problems with the instructions from PerttiA at the end of this thread:

    https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/368281/zilpha-invades-daz#latest

Took half an hour but now everything is fine wink

    It's happened again!
After solving the problem of "Rory" morphs being added to all the G8F figures years ago, suddenly, yesterday it started happening again. I hadn't reinstalled it, or made any changes to my DAZ content directory. Last time it happened (years ago, when I first bought "Rory") I followed Richard's advice above and it solved the problem. Tried it again this time, it didn't work. There is another solution above, involving editing a dsf file. I found the file, but it was already correct. I tried uninstalling "Rory", but the body and head morphs were still there and still being added to every figure at 100%. I tried manually reinstalling the files (downloaded from my Product Libary,) checked the dsf file was correct, - still had the problem! The only other thing I could think of was that there must be another copy of the same file somewhere else.
Now, I have two content directories, one for DAZ content, installed via DAZ Connect, and another that I use for other, mostly free, content, from elsewhwhere. There it was: a duplicate set of morphs for "Rory"! This dsf file was actually the original, faulty, file, not the correct one which DAZ updated years ago. I have no idea how it got there, other than that it must have been included in some freebie that I downloaded recently. A few days ago, I decided that this content directory was way too big and full of stuff I never used, so I deleted the old stuff and reinstalled just the free content that I tend to actually use. I've also had a look around the usual sites for any new freebies that I liked, so it's nigh on impossible to tell just where these "extra" files came from. (A similar thing happened a few years ago. I downloaded a freebie, and was surprised how big the download was. When I checked it out I realised that someone had uploaded not just the files for the freebie, but the whole content diorectory!)
Sorry for reviving this old thread, and for the long waffle, but, hopefully, if anyone else has a similar problem it may help - If all else fails, check for a rogue, duplicate file hiding somewhere!

I believe that Daz Connect runs some updates at the application launch. I think it's only supposed to be metadata but I have heard that it also "fixes" some files that it sees as differing from what they "should" be. Although it's unlikely that the Rory product has been recently "unfixed" at source and the last reported update was 2020-12-21.

It sounds like perhaps you may have installed a character that has Rory as a prerequisite/dependant and is has a non-zero default or you might have another product that has the same IDs that rory uses - check your Daz Log for duplicate formula errors.
