Looking for feedback

I'm definitely a newbie at this. I'm starting to dip my toe into doing complete renders with figures, background, effects, etc., and I'd love to pick your brains. What would you do to improve the image below?

I also have much to learn, but as a random thought... maybe add some subtle backlight from the right side? It's just that this black cat looks almost as negative space (or you wanted that?).
I like mimics here though :)

I love this one! Great colours, fun expression.

I increased the brightness of the HDRI background x10, and got this result. Gives it kind of a twilight feel. (The embers are something else I was playing with, and forgot I'd left in)

  • The twilight one definitely looks better-love the details brought in :) Main suggestions might be to add some highlights to the cat's eyes and maybe consider a very slight blur to everything but the cat and an overall texture overlay to make the noise more intentional? Both look good though! :)
