I was just looking at that chohole, that is fantastic. Where is the install guide, lol.
Is it more stable then the teething pains of reality at the moment?
LuxRender is the render engine. It can be nicknamed Lux.
Luxus and Reality are plug-ins that allow your DAZ Studio (or Poser/Carrara) scene to be transferred into LuxRender to be rendered. Luxus and Reality are just bridges between DS and LuxRender. The User Interface on them works different ways and they handle the conversion of DS materials in different ways. Either one will most likely require the user to manually adjust materials and lighting to look their best in LuxRender.
Thanks chohole and DestinysGarden. I had a half-thought and it got lost, lol. distracted by the radio.
That Luxus is looking rather good. If I remember correctly, the lights included with Studio are not LuxRender compatible (They do't work), or was it they needed adjusting to work threw Luxus (Purchased and pending me finding a how to install and connect to LuxRender manual)?
I hope the "Luxus Pro Training" has a "I know nothing" getting started section.
http://www.daz3d.com/luxus-pro-training
(EDIT)
This is not encouraging at first glance, the page is almost completely empty, lol.
Ah, go here, I think.
http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/Main_Page
http://www.luxrender.net/wiki/Installing_LuxRender_and_LuxBlend ?
Do I need to install Blender (Again) and that LuxBlender, to get this going with Luxus and Daz Studio 4.7?
DS lights sort of work to a point. Lights will probably need to be adjusted, but LuxRender makes it pretty easy when you know where to look. The bonus part is you can see the effect of changing the light while it is rendering.
I think that tutorial would be a good place to start.
I'm sure you already know this, but mine and IG's PhotoStudio: Point and Shoot light sets have Luxus light intesity settings built right in, so the DS and LuxRender results are as similar as they can be using two different render engines.
Edit:no you do not need any of the blender files.
Edit again: go to this page and grab the latest stable release (V1.3.1). Open CL or no open CL depends on your video card.
http://www.luxrender.net/en_GB/standalone
Hmmm. I had skipped over all the "PhotoStudio" items thinking they were Post Process toys for PhotoShop. I didn't realize they were actual lights to go in Daz Studio.
Just like I had skimmed past "Sparkles For Studio" by Fisty countless times, thinking it was a Dynamic table cloth, lol.
I need to bring mom to the store in an hour, and I'm not sure I'll get LuxRender installed in that time. It just appeared in my Product list, lol. I kind of was thinking of playing with some shaders to make some warped gift boxes for a scene I've yet to think threw entirely. Now I'm just lost.
Dose Luxus put LuxRender in the computer if it is not there?
(EDIT)
I'll do that, thanks DG. No CL, antique gForce 8600GT card with a fraction of a single 'cuda' thing.
(EDIT2)
Got the 1.3.1 stable 64bit version, I will try to pore that in to the computer now... Still waiting on DIM for the other half, lol.
Is this LuxRender like Hex, and I should put it somewhere Other then the Programs folder? because of win7 permissions conflicts.
(EDIT)
Well that was painless, default path for LuxRender.
(EDIT2)
Do I need both Luxus things, or just the 64bit one?
LOL ZDG!
You can install LuxRender wherever you want. It shouldn't have any issues being in the Programs folder. I put mine in Documents because I like it there. You only need the 64bit version of the Luxus and LuxRender.
Shout if you have problems.
cheers!
Here are the links to the Luxus discussion threads from when the plug in was released a year in March 2013.

O.K. thanks, Installed just in time for me to run out the door, lol. I'll, look at the manuals and tutorial later tonight.
I hope the Reality teething pains get sorted out in that other thread as easily. Thanks Y'all.
Luxus, Glass and a shiny surface
... and I will test those DG Shader Essentials soon! :-)
Thanks MN-150374, I look forward to the results. As It may be some time before I get anything working threw LuxRender with either adapter. I'm just now looking at the install window for Reality4, and getting a chuckle over a cold-war flashback. "Export Controls".
The last time I had seen anything like this, was with processors that were thought to be powerful enough to design weapons. I think it was anything over 66MHz at the time, lol. A 100MHz 486 could not be sold out of the US. A 486, not even a Pentium, a 486, lol.
In any case, I just got back from directing traffic for a Christmas parade, so I hope to watch a few of them Luxus training vids, before I need to get some rest before another parade tomorrow in a different town.
As someone who just finished his very first "clothing model" in Sketch Up, I have a lot more respect for the guys who do this modelling thing professionally. I was just working with simple polygons and parenting them specific body parts and the whole process was enough to drive my a little mad. I can't imagine the level of frustration some of the artists must feel when they're working on actual clothing for figures...
Agreed AkoolPoptart. And I have gone threw the thread covering using Blender and the Sickleyield rigging thing to make outfits. I don't know wheat is more dreadful, that I understood about half of it having yet to touch clothing, or the agony of working threw pose morphs/pbms/whatever's. lol.
All the more reason for me chewing on my keyboard when I cant buy something that I want, and when I come back a few days later wit the cash in hand and it is gone. sobbing.
In any case, that G-siut2 is looking very promising for allot of stuff, and there is quite a few excellent outfits that don't need you or I to rig them in Daz Studio so they work for our scenes.
Like these two skirts, the poses/vacuum was just to extreme for the default rigging. There is more "D-Form"s in this scene then other stuff, lol.
DOODE! It took me like 3 days to get my exo suit to do this (see image) without having any gaps or clippings!
I like your image by the way. My only suggestion would be to get the lightsaber collection from Vanishing Point because they include the 'glow effect' and the white core. Add a maxed out linear source light near the hilt (not on it though) and you got a glowing lightsaber.
http://www.vanishingpoint.biz/freeitemdetail.asp?FreeItemID=11
Thanks for the link to that set, it sounds very cool. However it is not a complete complete set of sabers, Luminara's is not there. I'm kind of proud of that one, as I made it from scratch with daz studio primitives.
http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#images/37539
Nice exo-suit by the way, looks familiar from a publication somewhere.
My apologies MN-150374, I just realized the link in your post to the thread with all the screen-caps and stuff.
Luxus, Glass and a Shiny Surface
Introduction
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/715040/
I will look them over as I work on other things. That video set, didn't exactly levee me feeling confident that I could fire up Luxus and be making cool renders. There is another thread on a similar line that I have lost track of the posts, so I don't even know if it is way beyond my n00b-level or not at this point.
MN-150374 might recognize that "walk-through" :)http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/728483/
about where I left off I think, Most of the chat before that is mostly what is the future of Luxus, and some R4 distractions. except this post I refer to in that post.
So, I've watched the vids I purchased, then did a tone of looking around the forum, then weather hit hard. It has been incredibly buisy since, lol. I have a laundry-list of stuff to try, and am guilty of not even looking at it the past week or so. Roman keys, g-suit2, EandJ outfit fun renders, etc. I haven't even pulled out that DG light set yet, man am I dragging my feet.
:red:
That's it tho, this is a hobby, and I do what I can, when I can. I'm not on the clock. lol.
Thats just the way it is, real life is more important than 3D-Life. :-)
No problem, if you have any questions on that walkthrough, I will help you out. ;-)
I have noticed the other discussion. Bluebirds Tutorial is a good one. She is explaining the Uberenvironment in detail.
Because you can translate any light from DAZ Studio to LuxRender via Luxus. But first you have to know how these lights work in 3Delight.
So basicly she gives you an crash course on 3Delight and LuxRender. ;-)
Took a break from all the luxus stuff, to work on something a tad more season oriented. Elves and stuff.
"Zayla For Giselle 6" has been hiding in a somewhat camouflaged folder in my content library for quite some time now. She is not down at the Z's end of the folder, nor is she near the beginning with the other '3anson' and "Enchanted Pixie" figures. As I exclaim, "DIM, where did you put her!". "Oasis Designs" !? Never mind, I don't want to know why Zayla ended up there. All that maters is I finally found that folder, so I could complete my Giselle6 lineup test.
Two things became instantly apparent when trying to set up this scene, one a pleasant surprise, the other rather agonizing yet not intolerable. She has no alternate shader, and on this computer it took about four minutes and change for the render to start. Leaving her out of the scene till the lights were set up was no problem. Adjusting the color of the outfit to match her makeup, beyond agonizing to put it lightly. It's close enough, I don't care to waste any more time on the colors.
As for the good thing, Working with expressions was incredibly easy with her, to the point of stunning. Some figures have a hint of an expression out of the box that just bleeds threw no mater what you do. Zayla was diametrically different, two individual sliders and done. Tho the ears may have helped that allot. I honestly don't know for sure what makes some figures impossible to pose and others a charm.
So here is Zayla, after all that fuss with the purple color matching to the G-suit2.

and many tiny additional props and bits for the backdrop.
Before I head of into the Luminiferous Aether to try a render with another elf/fay, I wanted to thank InaneGlory for the list of Luxus compatible lights here. and a small bit of what is what, as the stor search often fails outright for looking for some things.
DG also mention a few things about lights here.http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/729608/
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/725151/
Probably a subject that could be expanded upon extensively in another thread, possibly.
In other news, I've fussed with applying bones to rigid structures a tad, and my mechanical cat is not looking possible at current. It is way over my head for rigging the pistons and joints to move in unison, and forget about about the complexity of allot of joints with stacked pistons.
Last night I got distracted, because I didn't bother making screen-caps the first time I tried to use V4 Dynamic clothing on G2F. And all I could remember was it did not go well, and I assumed I had no clue what I was doing. Here it is months later And I'm fairly sure I did do things correctly, as the same exact procedures work perfectly with Khory's Circle Skirt. I love the skirt, and wish there were more length options available.
This morning I went threw all the stuff I had tried, that convinced me that V4 stuff would NEVER Work At All on G2F, ever. Some of it is quite funny to watch, like the morning shirt getting sucked into a black hole, I posted the results of that test in another thread along with another outfit combo
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/736952/
And this one here. I call it, "ah, WOW!" I don't think that is what they meant when they said warp-drive, :coolhmm:
And "The Twist".
Added a link on the first page to a walk-threw that that MacSavers was kind enough to make that appears to answer a tone of questions I have not found answers to for the better part of five months. Not dwelling on my bitter experiences, I am sitting down with my first cup off coffee to try walking threw the steps as described.
Really, Like I hadn't noticed, lol.http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewreply/737036/
I do not have that particular dress, as I'm much more interested in Dynamic Skirts (not saran wrap). So I will use A Free one from The OptiTex site, that has utterly failed in all my former attempts to stay on the figure when posed.
I made the mistake of working on to many things at once in the same scene. Now that latest ver of the figure Scene Subset, has the drape test animation tagged onto it, grrrrr.
I any case, worked a tad more on the Armbands using the G-suit2, and it is looking better. I still need to work on the opacity map for the next zone up the arm to finish them off. I'm really liking how this looks, Thanks Flipmode, Fisty and DestinysGarden.
Here I'm using "DG Black Velvet2" (DG Shader Essentials) on the Arm bands, and "DG Sweater Knit3" and "DG Sweater Knit4" on the Circle Skirt.
Those velvet shaders are sooo awesome, I use them all the time.
Agreed Fisty, there exceptional. I have neglected them my self, as other things tend to distract me when setting up a scene. Unless I'm explicitly thinking of swapping out an outfit texture set. "O" and I did eventually get that time line thing fixed, it took some work tho.
I spent last night lining up one of two renders for my other art site. This is the rather difficult one for my computer with only 16GB of ram, and all the birds. It peeked at 15.7GB of 16GB "Commit Charge" during the Progressive scan render. Nothing running except Daz Studio, plus some stuff killed in the Task manager, :blank:
I fussed with the feet on the ground till I gave up trying with the ground bump map vs where the feet appear to be in the view-field. I also worked on the pose of the one bird about to pounce.
Wrong Gate Address v2.0 Progressive Scan Test Render.
Same stuff as before

The topic has recently come to the surface regarding signatures or watermarks. For years I just used Times New Roman, or Ariel, and typed out “Zarcon Dee Grissom”, as it was the least of my worries, and it was just that much more work to do. More often then not it would end up being a tiny 'ZDG' in a corner out of the way, if my name was not at the top of the schematic.
I had seen in my many years at other sites some really bad use of watermarks, that made me just not want to bother. Bright and flashy beyond the point of distracting, or completely covering up the majority of the image.
Now I will point out that after looking again at a few renders here and at Deviant art, the signatures used are used far better, and do not obscure or distract from the art. And the work that Fisty had done, I do appreciate and like.
So I'm left thinking what do I have that is anywhere close, not much. Years ago I had garbed an 'Alteran' font (Anquietas by Joseph Spicer), and not so imaginatively, typed “zarcon dee grissom”, using it. I have used that in a few pictures around, and still mostly in schematics. It is not exactly a symbol, a glyph, emblem, or a signature, just a fun way of putting my name on the few images I bother spending the time to. And Most people probably have no idea what that stack of cubes thing is.
And on that, It is difficult to say, that is what 3Delight did without post-processing, if it clearly has had alterations such as a signature added in a corner. (The Daz3D store being one of a few exceptions, for copy right reasons among others).
Now I had had a chat with Kadix in another thread that has kind of stuck in my mind, regarding the root of my name. A misspelling of Zircon, and an Astronaut, with a hint of a wizard like sound to it. In the end, If I ever add something anywhere close to the paw-print in ShibaShake's name, It should probably be along the lines of that chat with Kadix.
“Zircons Forever”, a phrase to think about, as these examples are clearly inappropriate for a discreet “By Zarcondeegrissom” signature, on art.
I thought I would be uploading a really nice render at deviant today, instead I woke up to a computer in the middle of a 'core dump'. wow, did I break windows 7, lol.
I'll try that one again after the pending upgrades (just one to many birds I think, and I wanted more of them, lol).
Need coffee, so in the meantime.
nice spread of surface luxus options vs lighting MN-150374.

Happy New Year, ZDG! Hope you had a good start!
LuxRender light and surface experiments are always interesting stuff for me. :-)
Maybe it is interesting, I have uploaded some examples of the DG Shader Essentials 2 to my Luxball Gallery: http://www.daz3d.com/gallery/#galleries/91638/
ZDG - Happy New Year my friend! I look forward to seeing all your creative experiments in 2015.
@Fisty - ahw shucks, thanks! :red:
MN - thanks for posting the Lux balls. My god those marbles are among the best things I have ever done.
Yes Happy new year y'all. I was ripping the store apart looking for any G2F Dynamic Skirt I could find. I did get a few V4 ones, that I have some doubts if they will even fit G2F, lol. Except the Circle Skirt by Khory, been using that successfully for a while now (Without that animated drape trick).
Dynamic Nightwear for V4?
Flared Skirt (Tested by Khory already).
Ultimate Pattern Design Kit?
Maiden Fair Dynamic Gown?
Casual Jean Skirt and Top?
"O" and that other 16GB of ram is on it's way
@Fisty - ahw shucks, thanks! :red:
MN - thanks for posting the Lux balls. My god those marbles are among the best things I have ever done. The test sphere thing, or the EPIC shaders on them? I am a tad curious where the spheres came from?
(EDIT)
I think a DG Shader product description and compatibility listing needs to be "Updated" :cheese: "O" Essentials 2, not the first one?
http://www.daz3d.com/dg-shader-essentials
The test sphere thingy is required if you want to do my walkthrough. :-)
It is available in the LuxRender Forum: http://www.luxrender.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5527&p=94439&hilit=luxball#p94439
The DG Shader Essentials One are next on my list. :)
@DestinysGarden: Excellent work! ;-)
