If she emigrated before 1917, the Old New Year may not have been established by then... the country only switched to the calendar everyone uses after the Bolshevik revolution, IIRC.
Either way, since the Soviet days, the Jan 13th/14th night is the "Old New Year". Same gap as with the two Christmas'es.
Morning. I got not much, aside from a few words of wisdom, lol. First, (runs over to grab the translator off the other desk), счастливого Рождества.
It is about 7:40am on the 7th, computer time here (Zulu Time). Funny that I'm just waking up, had a long day yesterday. Just remember, if you do not use reverse deformations, it's just easier to make the morph again rather then try to edit out mouth realism HD without HD, lol. I monkeyed with the nose dials till the navel stopped moving, and by that point there was no fixing the mouth, lol.
It was sort of nagging at me that some dials were 100kB larger then newer ones that intentionally moved more points around on the nose. As you can see from that screen-cap of dsf files, I have not been sitting idle. I had goofed them four dials up so bad the first time around, it was just easier to trace them out in hex from scratch on a 'clean G3F blank' mesh (that I made long after the first few dials I goofed up).
Now rather then fight duplicate ID errors renaming dials and replacing them, it was easier to just go into the text of the dsf in notepad and copy-n-past some data over to the old dsf files to rid myself of the goof. It's something I had been originally thinking about for dial colors that I did not give much thought before two days ago.
It was just easier to copy the 'deltas' over then to fuss with the hour of book-keeping to remove and replace dials so they work with former made figure dials. So, that fixed, and I'm on to another possible figure shape as the new stuff from yesterday may hint at.
Zip uploaded and link updated top of last page. Just extract and copy/overweight all the former dsf files, you'll be fine. It's smaller because they no longer mess up the mouth, lol.
An hour into grammar checking this post, it dawns on my taste buds that this is day old coffee I'm drinking. wow that will move the hair from your head to your chest, you got hair on your chest it will move it to your shoulders and back, lol.
Now I just got to get that mental image of 'Someone' degrading me out of my mind, lol. Yes I know I'm an 'Amateur', lol.
What's up with Ear Elf LD05b that I just added (yes, it is also CC0). well a minor adjustment that I was looking at. The original ear looked a bit thing on the top edge near the head.
And a canal that I was trying for was a bit soft and small.
That's about it, I'm much happier with LD05b. What dose the LD stand for, well it is NOT HD at all, so why not go with the everything must have HD slapped on it, and this is LD for Low Def shape, lol. It's much lighter on resources, and works just as well for what I wanted. It just happened to be the fifth attempt from scratch, so the number is as such.
Yes, it was a Soviet-era change - hence the confusion between October/November Revolution.
For changing dial color, put the parameters tab in to edit mode (right click it somewhere, you'll see it) then select a dial (or shift-select a bunch of 'em), right click -> presentation. change colors with a nice color picker interface.
Studio has tons of creator tools built in.. I swear you try to find the hardest ways to do simple things. You have an 11 year PA in your back pocket, just ask.
Explore that right click menu when parameters is in edit mode, there are a ton of useful comands in there.
OK, I'll ask. That is a lot quicker for changing dial colors then one at a time with that little gear thing. I was 'pasting' the following text over the old text in all the DSF files, as I thought it would be easier then the multiple steps to find and save each dial.
Change and save one dial, then just copy the text to all the others in the same HDD folder. A tad (not much) easier then hunting them all down in the parameters tab, and then again in the save selection window.
Is there a simple way to save all the dials that are in a particular HDD folder, then again, never mind, that would be potentially catastrophic, lol.
Is that a good legible shade of gray?
Спасибо! ))
)))) OK, it's been a few days that a window has been open, and I think I'm going to click threw it. I want the hair for, well, more variety in my small and lacking collection. I do not know if the 'extra morphs' has been incorporated into the DIM stuff or not, yet. And the other stuff, well, I am a bit curious and want to look at what may be possible. I looked at one set before, and this one looks just as good in the promos. Perhaps I can do some GIMP mixing to get somewhere in between with another set, again just to see what is possible with just GIMP and Daz Studio.
Something odd when saving stuff. DS remembers where you were when saving Figure/prop assets, yet you must enter that stuff every single time for Morphs. I can sort of understand the extra 'Are you sure' part of saving morphs, it's just kind of annoying sometimes.
Something that crossed my mind earlier, converting the ears to G3M from G3F, should be somewhat trivial, right? Generation 7 has the same number of vertices, so it should be as easy as copying point offset data from one to the other, right? Well not so fast there, G3F has 17,418 vertices, and G3M has only 17,246 vertices. Did those missing genes on that 'v' chromosome cause a reduction in vertices? Ah, Perhaps not so simple as just putting the deltas in a G3M dsf file, hmm? And just where did those 172 vertices (or 172 faces) get removed from G3M, that sounds more like the difference between an 'X' and a 'v' instead of an 'X' to a 'y' chromosome gene reduction?
Oh, that's where I read that, lol. Silly me, I could not remember what order them numbers are in when someone rattled off three numbers as someone's body size. An arbitrary comment in an answer to that stated that "waist should be about 10" smaller than bust and hips", so I guess a tummy only single digits in size exists somewhere, just not on earth. Size 30 or 32 inch pants are somewhat common I guess (there always sold out when I'm looking for them), so If I was female my tummy should be about twenty inches in circumference by that rule, even tho I'm about six feet tall, hmmm. I think I like the percent ratio better then some arbitrary fixed amount less. Perhaps that commenter confused human with Asgard or Goa'uld dimensions, lol.
I'll entertain the thought really quick, lol. (fires up Daz Studio to toss some dials).
"Vitals" are listed top to bottom, and the clue is that breast is normally smaller than hips, if marginally. Without implants, I mean.
Hmmm, I read it somewhere that DAZ female figures are modeled as if they had a bra on, so as to make clothing creation easier. Maybe they are also supposed to be wearing invisible corsets?
https://lucycorsetry.com/2014/09/25/corsets-and-the-victorian-fainting-culture/
Ah, That thing
who needs midlevel implements of torture when we have worse things floating around, lol. I had to make some things bigger, as the waist would not go that small. I kept the inseam, lower hip circumference, and the height the same as me, and adjusted the rest to be "The Perfect Female Shape", eeek. Waist ten inches smaller then anything else, ok.
Looks more like a Holocaust survivor then me, hmmm. Perhaps I should not have gone so far as to entertain that thought. Hay, If I make the head bigger, overdose the eye size, and paint her gray, she would be a perfect beady eye gray alien, lol.
Now that looks a hell of a lot more appealing then the other one. Now about that beaming techno-stuff.
And can I pleas pleas pleas Pleas barrow your translator.
Don't tell me it crashed. lol.
Yea, it's bad enough when I'm scouring the forum looking for tidbits of info on how to do stuff, and I barely comprehend what I'm attempting to do. I know I'm the last one that should be saying stuff about how others post, especially given I can't spell and English was not my first language. Yet it is maddening when I try to read a post that supposedly explains how to do something I barely comprehend to begin with, and almost all of the verbs and all of the adjectives and conjunctions completely missing, and what is left is scrambled in half the sentences. ugh, what gives. lol.
Morning, enough of the off topic funny Alien techno stuff. This is just a random experiment I decided to try on a whim, that I intended to do yesterday.
I see a few thing that need to be adjusted further, yet I'm starting to see a resemblance to a few faces I've seen around. The face is still a tad bit tall, and I'm not sure what dial combos to use to get that shorter and keep the square jaw corners, yet. Getting there slowly.
I'm going to pause there for a bit. I'm not sure what direction to take that, and I'm not sure what dials to use for some stuff. Stuff like, I want to pull the temple indent next to the eye out a bit, however the dial labeled "temple width" only widens the head above the eyebrow and dose nothing at the temple , lol.
Curious tidbit of random unconfirmed info, that I've yet to confirm for a particular ethnicity, yet appears to be 'Close Enough' to what I'm looking at on G3F for many faces from other parts of the world (not everybody, just many). "the commonest _____ nose breadth(between the wings) is 3.5-3.6 cm and the nose breadth is hardly variable" hmmm.
I was going on something a tad simpler. Start at the inside of the eyes at the tear duct, draw a line straight down, and more often then not you will run into the outer surface of the nose wings, most of the time. Noses are not usually drastically smaller then the distance between the eye ducts. I have also noticed a similar thing about the mouth width and a different area of the eyes (it lines up somewhere on the iris, usually, there about).
And yes, I'm window shopping as well, just to see what is out there with more FLOPS then my pathetic FX-8350 (not much that I have the funds for at this time).
Oh, the other project is still in the works.
I have an idea what I want to do with the nose shape and not much else of the face yet, and the body needs a lot of work still.
The biggest challenge will be getting the figure down to the appropriate height and keeping the overall shape the same, hmmm. As for head size (Head propagation size), it looks like there is some wiggle room with scaling the figure before fussing with head size dials. G3F has a head about 6.15in (15.621cm) wide, and I am closer to 5.5in (13.97cm) head width, so I guess 5.75in (14.605cm) is not unreasonable for a shorter slender individual.
OK, we interrupt this program for a quick what did I just discover clogging up the shopping cart plumbing, lol. First odd ball question goes to a few PAs that I have noticed doing this completely pointless setup for 3delight.
You go threw the trouble of setting a specular map and set the glossiness values, yet you pick a pure black for the color. That dose absolutely nothing except waste CPU cycles. You got to set that to something brighter then pure black, otherwise your just wasting your time putting the maps there and wasting my CPU cycles, lol. I've been just tossing 200r 180g 153b in that box for the hell of it for a few items that have it black by default (it's a few hair styles by a few different PAs that do that). Not dwelling because I have a few things.
Those setting appear to look ok with the Zdg Ear that I made so far, other styles the multi-ear-fit dial appears to do quite well. Yep, looking good.
So, now to try some posing with that outfit. I guess it is a busy time of the year, so I suspect it will take some time for PAs to filter back and sift threw the backlog of Q&A from others. At least this I can have fun with in the mean time. If I can find another shirt like Ghawazee except for G3F this may work out. I'm not seeing any 'Skirt Protection' with that, so I'll use Yulia's outfit skirt protection.
You need that refit for G3?
With extreme hesitation, because of many things I don't know that I shouldn't know in complete contradiction to the ways of "The Order", lol. I don't know. I haven't even looked yet at what else I have laying around.
Well at least at first glance the skirt looks OK, I haven't tried many poses yet.
I am quite tempted to put a d-former on the left strap to pull that back in, I wasn't able to find a dial for that, and it may only be the one pose that dose that. I will say, lots of surface zones to work with (including a zipper on the back of the top), that is very nice.
(some time later) Now, in honesty, I'm not seeing much in the way for movement adjustments in the skirt, and it dose suffer sit-pose skirt-flower syndrome. It is usable for a few things that are mostly standing upright and walking poses. Perhaps in another program with mesh flow collision dynamics stuff (like Maya or Marionette) it will be much friendlier to work with. It dose look nice in 3delight, and fits figures with much less grief then some other stuff I've been tormented with.
Perhaps with some JCM adjustments it can be better, tho the skirt style may be a bit difficult to work with JCM voodoo.
I may be able to make a morph to smooth over that kink, possibly, just not today. BTW, thanks Fisty for the shirt conversion. And happy new year in kind EJ.
Yep, still having fun.
Now I need to come up with something creative for another set of dial icons. OK, left to right, G3F3W, G3F1W2, and G3F2W (body 1 & 2 mix) from the Zdg G3F Morph extension set. Borrowing mats from FWSA Shiloh left and Paloma on the other two.
And then the nearly impossible task stops everything in it's tracks.
Ever wish you could just blanket copy and paste something, yet a small detail keeps it from being simple and easy. Not as simple as copying everything on the right to the DSF on the left , nope, can't do that.
Mass replace? I once hacked a number of freebie morphs between Hivewire Dawn and Dusk with Notepad++.
Yea, I have no idea what order (if any) them dials are supposed to be in with the ERC frozen DSF files, and some things are just a PITA if values were changed between the DSF and the original scene-save before making the original ERC freeze. I can think of two ways to add a dial to an ERC, and they both suck. Dial everything back in from scratch with the new dial and ERC that, then fuss with the myriad of errors replacing the old ERC with the new one. Or go threw each line of text in the DSF files one at a time to copy the necessary dial names and values over to the old one. Fisty is correct, I fumble onto the most difficult things to do, like add a dial to an ERC freeze, after that ERC freeze was incorporated into a full figure dial, lol.
Well, many pots of coffee and a day later, lol. I've been looking around and have read an interesting color name a few places now. And apparently it can refer to blond, brown, black, red, pastel, and even wraith hair colors, lol.
I will guess what it refers to is determined by where you are. It dose look like what was hinted at is some shade of blond, if your in Hollywood and a few other places. Enough poking fun at non descriptive words, lol.
I sort of wanted to do a tad more, tho system memory started to get a bit shy on availability.
I did get a few into that one . G3F3W, LY Jessenia, FW Eve *1, G3F1W, EJ Estrella *1, and FWSA Wachiwi. All '*1' with there own ears", Jessenia borrowing Izabella7 ears, Wachiwi borrowing Eve's ears, and, G3F3W and G3F1W using the Zdg G3F Morph extension set Ear LD05b.
And after many many many adjustments, lol.
Welcome y'all from the Odroid XU4, ah, yep.
Just had a forced update that bricked win7 so good that safe mode is an empty desktop wall paper with nothing else (not even a right-click menu). I'd show y'all the photo that explains why I'm not a big fan of 'Safe mode' from my experience, however I don't know how to get the photo from the A560 to the Odroid to upload it (that's for another time, I wanted to play with ears today).
Yep, that went well M$, lol. Thank Beastie for ISO images on a BSD box. 109GB over a SATA connection at SSD write speed (about 14MB/s), Time to make some coffee... over 2 hours later.
BTW, thanks Fred. I understand that would not be an issue had I kept using good methods (like other things I've done) with the figure ERC vs source scene saves of the dial settings. And I noticed as much, it only works a little bit over half the time and the rest it just produces Duplicate ID or Duplicate formula errors, lol. I will not make that mistake again. It's just easier and less time consuming to make the entire ERC from scratch then to fuss with fixing errors from the other ways.
I already posted that, Stop it forum.
Well, Don't know how I missed this one, the dial could not find itself warning.
WARNING: fileinput\dzassetdaz.cpp(5311): Could not find target property for formula... Zdg%20G3F1W%20Body?value in file : ...Zdg%20G3F1W%20Body.dsf Re-saved it again and all good, the dial can now locate itself. (face palm) lol. n00b at work, if there is a rare obscure error type, I will find it. lol.
I'm also looking in to adding a hint of personality to the ear shape, because ear shapes are almost like fingerprints in variety, lol.
Cute! What are they looking at?
Well, I sort of had an idea where, just not what they were looking at other then where there going. That render took around two hours, so I was less willing to make a follow up one. At the moment I'm looking at some hair and trying to figure out what dial combo gets the hair out of the ears without bending the ears forward as in this test render.
There are many dials and I'm not sure what I'm looking for is called or what category it's in. I'm not seeing any 'Elf' dials so that may be an indication of the rest. The EJ stuff has an entire category for elf ears on many styles, this looks more like an Easter egg hunt. It may be there, it may not.
Well, that sort of works, if you don't mind massive gaps around some spots of the ear. I will make it work on her ears...
Even if G3F1W has to get out the tea cup, lol. (It's actually not that bad)
Still around and tinkering a bit. I also decided on another name, La Silla, for a few reasons.
There are a few things that I am not willing to fuss with, so I'm kind of limited with what I can do for the shape. None the less, I think I'm close if not getting there. I've also had a few detractions the past few days that took me away from what I was in the middle of, resulting in me starting a few things again from scratch because I forgot what where I was by the time I got back to tinkering.
A day later, and after significant "Intense negotiations" with some suborn anomalies of a particular shape dial.
I think I found a partial solution for that, "Zdg tummy RibSmooth02" appears to do ok there with the offending dial at modest levels. With that I think I can just about introduce you to, Zdg LaSilla for G3F included with the other dials in that Morph extension set.
At about 5 foot 3, she is a tad tall for the average of 4 foot 8 of others, however there was some limitations I had to work with and I feel that is good enough without completely breaking every single outfit available for daz figures, lol.
I will also admit that some measurements are not exactly to some 'ideals' around, however I will point out that she is Not European and has a very different lineage.
Morning, working on some coffee, trying to wake up some. Had some progress with the Cathy hair yesterday, the test renders just took some time to render.

Also, having hit the 32GB limit of my pathetic computers DIM slots, I'm not sure that IF it has 3DL mats, the subway would load in my willfully inadequate computer.
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/141991/polish-subway-huge-vram-demand
Somewhere there has to be 16GB or 32GB DDR3 sticks (per stick, not total for the entire kit), just not anywhere that I can locate in non-ECC variety. I sort of wanted that two years ago Dram makers. Some where in the Beta thread I hinted at why it is such a problem with Iray, akin to the difficulties I had on a 32bit system with only 3GB of system ram. With such limited memory, you are stuck with using environment spheres and ad-hock partial sets with limited number of figures for renders. You will never be able to load up a Stargate Atlantis city-ship model and render a fly-by with the usless skimping's of memory nvidia has been putting on there products. If your lucky enough to be able to afford an i7 system with more then four memory slots (capable of more then 128GB of memory), then such incredible sets such as that subway are not unreasonable to work with in 3DL, and even have room for filling such a set with a believable number of figures for a full scene.
I don't think FW Courtney is all that happy at the moment. One of the CR2 files is missing in action kicking errors, and some one thought it would be absolutely 'Brilliant' to omit the flint spark lighter.
Other then that, things are going quite well so far. The boiler should be back up and running as soon as a hose for the torch can be found, and something to light the torch with, lol.
Here ya go babe.. a little thank you for the hell I'm putting you through this week.
Loads with Iray mats.. I know you have plenty of 3DL metal shaders kickin' around.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/2skkt3bm16uz2t7/FD_Flint_Striker_DS.zip?dl=0
Ah, lol. The original scene subset I made of Courtney the fixer was so long ago that apparently I had my run-time on the boot drive at the time. Took a bit of finagling tho the hose is now back in the runtime and knows where itself is, now. Thanks so much for the Flint Striker fisty, that is incredible, even tho my toss together 3DL settings need some (sips coffee), I'll find a better one later this will do for the funny.
There are two kinds of mornings, ones that involve looking forward to D-former origami and tedious hours of check-box hunting to export and import stuff from modeling programs just to make something I purchased function as advertised. Often that involves rolling over and going back to sleep as the dream was more enjoyable, lol. Then there are mornings that I just can not convince my body to start working quick enough, because I know for the most part it is minor things that may not even be noticeable to some, and I don't need to convince daz that something is actually broken, that is this week so far, lol.
L-to-R. Dark Elves (slow as plate tectonics AoA shader replaced with daz default), Unmodified plane old stock G2M, and FW Courtney.
Morning, working on morning coffee. I decided to look really quick at the d-former mess I never initially intended to be a viable figure morph (the lump on the back of the head was not intentional).
Looks like the eyes may be a bit troublesome with one of the d-formers.
The other thing I'm not sure of, is if it would be quicker to go threw the check-box hunt, or if making the d-former rig from scratch would be easier to transfer this to something else. Not to say, I don't have any of the other morph sets to do this on something else, lol
Oh, and your not seeing things, that has some difficulty fitting plane old zeroed out shape G3F. Apparently that was not to extreme a shape for that, regular G3F is to extreme for that swimsuit, lol. In any case, time to look at what d-former is doing what on the head.
OK, I looked at the d-formers for a few seconds, and this just is not going to work without a few hundred d-formers for the fine crease on the side of the cranium. Time for Hex.
Well, I think it needs some work, tho at least it is an attempt, lol.
Alien variety show, awesome =D
