Real Blurs?

In Daz Studio is there a way to achieve better blurs? I have been saving on render time by rendering without any blur. (At least I think that's faster). And then when I comp layers in After Effects I can add some motion blur there.
From what I know both blur systems merely blend earlier and later frames. It's good, but not perfect. So is there a way to achieve more realistic blurs? Or is that something just available in the higher end programs?

I don't know Studio, but in Carrara, there are possibilities of rendered motion blur.
To be sincere, I tried and I didn't find them very well compared to those in AE.
What I do now, I make a render for the object separately and I add a motion blur for this one only in AE.
It should be said that I always make images sequences in .tga or .psd for the compositing.
Thanks. I haven't tried adding motion blur to an individual layer.
I'm rendering movies out of Daz Studio, but maybe I should experiment with image sequences.
