Good bye Daz.

Love you all, but, I'm taking my art and leaving. I'm sorry but art is defined as free expression.
You all have too many rules, way too politically correct and way too many guide lines for a REAL artists ambition.

I choose to make art to think outside the box. Not to put myself in one.
Dragons and swords? No thanks. That's been done before a million times over...

It's nothing personal... I'm just not willing to obey the rules that contradict the very definition of the word, "art".
In a nut shell, I don't agree to the terms and conditions because they directly conflict with my style.

I'll still shop around, but I'm not a tame artist... I need to go to other places if I wanna show my real art.

Well, I am have felt the same for many times, and I still do. The rules here are very strict and sometimes really limiting - if you plan to show your art here.

But you always have to be aware that you are not limited to one (this) gallery only. If a piece of art meets the given rules, you can post it here. If not, post it somewhere else. This is very simple and easy :-)

Rubbish. There have always been rules on artists of some type or other. That does not prevent them from their artistic ambitions or from being real artists. Look at how many have been rejected by "established" art circles historically. Impressionists were rejected by the French Academy. Scores of works of art were refused by the church after they were commissioned. Museums remove works of art if people are "offended". Heck the art school I attended pulled a whole Sr exhibit down after 6 hours because of they deemed the content too controversial. What makes you a real artist is how you deal with those rejections and how you feel about your own work. I am sure there are other galleries out there that do not have the same boundaries that you feel are constricting you. But the rules of a gallery have nothing to do with if someone is or is not a real artist.

It is the same on every Forum. There are rules to be followed or anarchy rules. Why you needed to explain your reason for leaving usually signifies a need for acceptance. Why not just stop posting? It comes to the same thing without the dramatics. It isn't as if anyone really cares :-) I'm an Admin on another Forum and we remove any 'I am leaving' posts for this very reason.

Every gallery has it's own sets of rules that needs to be adhered to when joining. It doesn't make one less of an artist simply because someone can not follow the rules; you just have to know where to post your work for it to be properly enjoyed. If a site says no visible genitalia, then you post your best images that meet that criteria, not post something where the focus is directly on it. I have several places I post my work depending on the content of the image, so I don't think it's really necessary to try the push the envelope when there are so many places out there that you can share your work.

Now if you have something like naked children in draping sheets with angel wings and it looks more sexual than artistic, then I'm doubting many sites will accept that work, because you're most likely skirting the law than having artistic vision. So really comes down to knowing the rules of posting your work and following it before you actually try to post work that don't meet the criteria.

I'm doing the right thing and packing up, then saying good bye to the people I liked at the same time.
There's no drama here. I read the rules. I don't accept them. Therefore I leave. It's that simple.
I've done nothing wrong here. What would be wrong of me to do, is to know the rules, and deliberately disobey them.
But I can see how you might think I'm being dramatic. I'm really not. I'm just telling you all good bye, and the reason for my departure.

I'll be honest, much of my art is (in the wrong set of eyes) pornographic.
My art involves making females as beautiful & realistic as possible.
Even though there's no porn involved,
I find the female body most challenging to perfect, and I'm not going to hide what I've worked on for weeks,
and sometimes even months, with clothing. If I do use clothing, its very thin.
My real art is what lies underneath. But in the minds eye of the simple folk a naked body is porn.

I don't post all of my works here, because they're not all TOS-compatible, or 3D renders. Those renders which I can post here, I do. I see no problem in posting different works at different sites.

    and software related discussions
never really saw a need to even post Art here though have some.
Youtube is my arena for that actually.

All avenues of society have rules. Just because you are creating "Art" doesn't give you the right to do what ever you like with complete indifference. If you aren't willing to accept the constraints this society puts upon its members then you are right to remove yourself from it.

DAZ provides such a vast catalogue that I don't see avoiding nudity as much of a problem.

I hope you enjoy the places that you do post your art. :) And as someone else says, pop in and post when your art meets the guidelines. No big deal. What you find restrictive, others don't blink at, it just depends on what you want to render. I do appreciate artists who don't violate the guidelines and it stays posted until it gets noticed. So happy posting elsewhere and have fun!

danwat801, I don't disagree about the value of the human body as an art subject. Drawing classes do nudes because they are so complex in shape and shadowing. On the other hand I only recall seeing nudes sold in a small selection of galleries that I have shopped in over the years.

Don't get me wrong - nudes totally rock! I just don't post any here.
