Ways to make walk cycle easier?

In Daz Studio, here's what I want to do:
--be able to load up a set….I've got that down.
--Be able to plop a customized character (figure, wardrobe, props) into that set. I've done this by creating that character and saving it as a scene. I can option-drag that character into the scene.
--Have that character walk. This is where it gets problematic. Because this character is a soldier with a rifle, some customization has been needed to make sure the rifle is approximately in the hands of the figure as he walks. So this is a customized walk cycle with the rifle key-framed to the hands.
So is there a way to save the character and his animation? Or is there a way to apply that customized animation to a newly loaded character?
