Clothing Parameters?

Okay, this seems to be a problem... The Genesis clothing I have isn't even fitting the unmorphed base figures well once "Fit-To" and posed. But, there seem to be no parameters (or sub parameters for different body groups) in Genesis clothing for adjustments. Here's Space Age Behemoth fit to Genesis 1 female (she is morphed a bit). When I select the clothing actor, there are no sub-parameters to adjust for the chest poke-through on the main suit... This isn't the only clothing I've seen the lack of parameters on... Am I doing something wrong?

Saw your post earlier, started working on an answer, then got side tracked. So, sorry it's taken so long to get back here to answer.

One way to fix the problem is to open the offending clothing item in the modeling room (select it in the scene/intstances), then open the modeling room (wrench Icon), select the vertices in that area and pull them out slightly until the poke through is gone. This is fairly easy if your comfortable moving vertices around, otherwise, it's a bit daunting (but a great skill to learn).

The other option, that should work on this bit of clothing, is to use a minor bit of displacement in the shader. To do this, select the "actor" of the bit of clothing you want to fix, then open the material room by clicking on the paintbrush icon - you should now have the shaders for the clothing item available under shading domains on the right side of the screen (unless it only has one shading domain, then the shader window you want will already be open). Double click on the shader that covers the area you want to fix, and Carrara will open that shader for editing. Now click on the displacement tab, Click on the blue button titled "none" and select operators>subtract (see last image below). Now set up the displacement like shown in the next two images, using the big gray square image below as the texture map (just right click and download someplace you will be able to find it and easily use it again if needed). This "should" remove the poke through. You can experiment with the offset and source 2 values the get a better fit (in this case, increasing the offset value will reduce the displacement away from the base figure, reducing the value will "push" it farther away from the figure).

I'm sure this was all just about as clear as mud, hopefully you'll be able to figure out my arcane instructions without your head (or figures cloths) exploding.

I was just working with the same displacement setup on some other items, and It didn't seem to work as expected, so I'm not sure it's worth you investing a lot of time (or any) on the displacement method. The results seem rather unpredictable (though I could be doing something totally wrong).

What does that little pulldown menu next to the word, Root show? Any options there?

I don't have C8.5, so Genesis of any flavor is like looking at little green men from another planet.

Well, here's something a bit interesting. After reopening the scene and selecting the actor, I can see the paramaters. So I was able to fix the poke-through with dials this time... Odd..

It's a good thing, because materials and the modeler are still beyond me yet. Really not getting along with this program, at all. :gulp all. I don't think I'll be putting much more time and effort into it. I'll give it two more weeks, at best.

Well slap me upside the head and call me stupid :red:

There is a simple way to fix poke through on just about any bit of clothing. Poke-Away2 for Genesis2 Females (http://www.daz3d.com/poke-away2-for-genesis-2-female-s). How I forgot about this I really don't know, it's quite handy (but adds a lot of morphs to G2F). You can easily find the "morphs" your looking for by using xaway as a filter (i.e. xaway_back for poke through on the back). This little gem works great in Carrara and Poser (DS too, but there are also other ways to fix poke through in DS).

    Sorry for being ..... DUUHHHH!!!

I just remembered it when I was working on getting cloths to fit some more extreme morphs on G2F in Carrara. It typically beats the heck out of any other methods. There is also a Poke Away for Genesis 1 that works very well too (http://www.daz3d.com/poke-away)

Glad your poke through went away automagically. If you decide to continue with Carrara, or use Genesis/Genesis2 in Poser (Genesis actually does work pretty well in Poser), you might want to keep Poke Away in mind.

Thank you.;-) No problem, I completely understand. Most of the 3D stores are so big, it can be hard to keep track of everything that's available. I think I'm going to hold off on buying too much more for Genesis 1 until I figure out whether I even like Carrara. I did buy a few non-skankwear items from the PC yesterday since they had the offer to save an extra 25% if you bought $10+ of PC items in one cart. I figured a couple more decent outfits to work with while exploring Carrara might make a difference.

I've never gotten DSON to work. I've tried a couple of times. So Genesis 1 with Poser is out.

Hats off to xenic101 for creating these two products. I bought the Genesis 1 version. Sadly it does not seem to work with an old Genesis figure, you have to load a brand new one...is that right with these types of remedy tools? Or how do I get the tool to load into my existing figure. I thought it might be like V4's ++ morphs but not sure and can't find them.

Also..... I think DAZ should PAY xenic101 for creating things like this and then offer it free to the rest until they have a software update. If a freelance artist comes up with a solution that the inhouse teams can't or aren't asked to, then DAZ should pay the freelancer enough to compensate them for future sales and offer it without charge to DAZ software customers. If customers have Poser, then OK....they can buy it. But clothes should fit properly on the figures to begin with.

I do like some of the other add-ons to fix clothes that cling too much, etc. That's sort of an option beyond how the clothes were originally intended to fit. However, adjusting morphs seem to often skip over the body parts where you want to loosen them... sod's law!

    Sorry... just my 2p worth.......

Yeah, loosening clothing something I've been doing quite a bit with Poser Pro 2014, and my new-found skill, with the new morphing tool function. Very handy. It's salvaged a couple of scene ideas that i couldn't have pulled off before Sixus1's tutorial. I'm hoping eventually I'll be able to "translate" that with the modeler in Carrara, if I stick with trying to learn it. Right now, that's a big if...
