Smart Content missing thumbnails

I have a non daz product which is showing files in smart content. However none of the thumbnails are showing up, I just get a gray box with an exclamation point !

What could be causing this? I tried to search the forum and came up empty, but if there is another thread on this, please point me in the right direction.

Thanks.

The exclamation mark usually means that there is something wrong with the path.

You could try the Content DB Maintenance options in the Content Library drop-down, but that may not be necessary. Perhaps someone else has a better idea?

Nothing seemed to work with DB maintenance. Tried re-importing metadata for the product, as well as some other options.

Does it make a difference that this is installed in My Library, and not My DAZ 3d Library, or whatever the DIM install location is?

The location wont matter as long as it is listed in the Content Directory Manager.

Where is the icon for the product you are using, and is it in a format that DS can read correctly?

This may be your problem, taken from the Documentation Centre here :
    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/userguide/creating_content/packaging/tutorials/adding_metadata/start

In order for the Product to display icon, an image file of the same base name as the support files has to be placed in the same Support folder as the .DSX support file. The default location is ”/Runtime /Support/”. For new Products, this image should be 114×148. If you are creating metadata for older products, you may use the 100×143 product thumbnails in the DAZ 3D shop website.

Maybe whoever did the Metadata didn't know about this?

Honestly it is my product which I sell through another store. Thus my concern when metadata was not showing up, as it was fine through beta testing etc. But I've fixed it.

I realized that when trying to load the files from smart content, the files could not be found, as it was referencing the original files when I was working on the project, not the files in the final install location. So I looked again at the Content DB Maintenance options, and chose "Remove references to orphaned data paths" or something to that effect, and chose the original, unused path. With that accomplished, the files are displaying correctly.
