Merging Products Together

During my journey through the store of this site, RenderErotica, Rederosity, RenderHub, and many others, I've come across some products that are outstandingly good. I've come across some products that are the same item (a morph, prop, environment, etc) but have different features.  But because they are two different products by two different artist/sites, there's no way for me to take both of them or both the morphs and place them on the same person/object. 

My point is that I've purchased some add-ons for G8M and some for G8F. What I want to do is take the products and essentially merge them into one for scenes while keeping them separate for when I need to only use one. Basically, I want to make a new product for the ease of my use. However, I've run into a few issue with this idea of mine:

1. I'm having a hard time taking the G8F morphs/add-ons and applying them to the G8M, but I'll figure that out over time I suppose. (Will be posting this in a different thread later on)

2. I'm not sure how to merge products together into one product, whether it's something that can actually be done (I'm sure it is) then a matter of what program to use (Daz,Blender, etc) and then how to do it. 

3. I'm not aware if this is even something that I'm allowed to do. A similar program, MMD, has rules from each creator about what can and can't be done with their content. I've looked through through the Readme files of each artist for the products and read the descriptions of all products, and I see no list of rules or a "you can't do this with my content" type section. 

So I took to the forums of the websites, and have gotten no response, and it's been several days. I also emailed the artist directly to see what their thoughts on the matter were. So far, I haven't gotten a response, and one of them isn't making art anymore I think (most of the post/products from them are several months to years old, and their DeviantArt has gone cold seemingly since 2017) So I thought it would be a good idea to take my inquiry here as well, as everyone here seems to be overall more knowledgeable about Daz. 

In no way is this for me to go off selling to some other 3rd party or person for my own gain. I'm making renders, like everyone else, and would be posting them on my social media sites, DeviantArt/Patreon like everyone else. I've already informed both artist that they would get credit whenever the content is used so people know that I'm not the one that came up with the idea for the product in the first place but come up witht the story/scene and everything else. 

I'm know that this is something that is technically really heavy for someone who's just a beginner, but this is something that pushed me to seek out programs such as Daz3d and blender in the first place. It's a challenge that I'm willing to undertake. If I don't have goals for this kind of stuff, then it becomes just another program that sits on my computer waiting to be deleted at some point.

    Why not? You can kit-bash scenes, outfits, etc. all you want to. It's "your" artwork ;-) Morphs normally have a dial on the Parameters Tab and/or the Shaping Tab, figures can be part any number of morphs. To save out a preferred mixture, select the figure when ready and save out a Shaping Preset - uncheck the main figure on the resulting dialog box, right-click and select to have "all modified" checked. Save to a logical location.

    My point is that I've purchased some add-ons for G8M and some for G8F. What I want to do is take the products and essentially merge them into one for scenes while keeping them separate for when I need to only use one.

    Prepare the one figure set, Save as a Scene Subset. Clear scene repeat for the other figure(s). One can then "merge into scene" any number of scene subsets [right-click option from some locations].

    Generally speaking consider that morphs and geografts are "only" for the figure they are made for. There are some exceptions and/or work-a-round procedures for some products. Geografts actually have some of the original mesh from the donor figure for which it is made. It is not going to match to any other figure.

    One can load the figure, load all the clothing, etc. {make sure it is "fit to"}, then select the figure and save out a Wearables Preset. Check or uncheck any items you want or don't want saved in the preset. Save to a logical location.

    Some of the products now being sold in the Daz store were originally sold elsewhere and so yes there may appear to be some confusing readmes about ... go with the EUA from Daz3D.com which is how they are being sold to us here now. You can change the textures as you please, templates are often available for that purpose or can be easily made using utilities. We can render images made with products sold at Daz3d.com [stills or animations] to our heart's content :-) And while it may be appreciated, no, we do not have to list all the artists of every "paintbrush, tube of paint, canvas maker, etc." that we use. Freebie content makers each have their own usage rules, often non-commercial and/or with credits, so those readmes one has to be paying attention to. There are some products which are also made as Merchant Resources and those can be very specific, for example, only for use on the "one" figure and gender it is being sold for. Often that is because they are selling products for the other figures and would of course like people to buy all their sets :-) However for one's own use, there are no limits [that I've come across but keep in mind, all figures have their own uvmaps].

    Rendering images for digital display, 96 pixels is usually plenty. Rendering images for print it goes better at 300 pi. {I like making bookmarks}

    For screen you just need the pisel size to be right. For print, multiply the physical size by 300 to get the desired pixel count for 300PPI if it's going to be held close. Posters don't need 300PPI. Remember that PPI is simply a number in the file telling anything that deals in physical units how big a pixel should be.

    Maybe I'm too young to know the terminalogy, but "kit-bash"? So the morphs do have the dial on the Parameters tab as well as some on the Shaping tab. My issue is that I want to take those morphs that are being used on a G8F and place them on a G8M, and am having a hard time doing that. I tried savin the shaping preset like you said, but it didn't apply female body bits to the male figure the way that I wanted to.

    I spent over 3 hours laast night trying to figure out how to do this. I applied the female bits to the G8F, I would go to file then save it as a scene subset, and I would use the check boxes (nodes) to only select what I actually wanted to save in the subset, the femlae bits in this case. Then, I'd clear the scene, load in the G8M, and go to the merge into scene from File. Then it would still load the entire figure into the scene instead of just the bit that I purchase/the checkboxes that I selected. And I also tried just double clicking the add on item from the Content Library while selecting the G8M, and get the message - Wrong object! Please select a G3F of G8F and tehn run the script again. This lead me to try and figure out to take the object into Blender and edit it from there to be applicable to a G8M, which is super hard and technical.

    Yeah, but I thought that maybe there was some way to put it into Blender and edit it from there to be for G8M. Again, I'm still learning about Blender, but figured that I learn about doing this along the way.

    I was looking into the extended licensing thing, and will be posting in another forum about it later, cause I need to understand it more. Will be rereading it.

    Bookmarks are cool! But thank you so much for resonding to me! Like I said, this is something that I've always wanted to do, and it's something that's pushed me to get these programs and learn how to use them. I really appreciate all the help!

    It is not exactly clear what you want to do but if your goals is just to merge some different items you can just same everything as a scene subset and then load it as a single item in one piece

    So I haven't used my Christmas code yet, and I'm not sure if I could get this as a standalone thing with the coupon, but! The things I'm trying to convert/merge are body parts. So I could use this to take body parts from the G8F and merge them onto the G8M?

    What I'm trying to do is take a female body part that's meant for G8F and place it onto a G8M. However, said G8M already has a female body part that was created for G8M, but the one I'm trying to add has features that the original one doesn't. So I'm trying to take both add-ons, the one that was meant for G8F and the one for G8M and merge them together into one product that I can use for my G8M. THen, once I get those two products merged, the plan is to then merge them with another product that's a male body part meant for G8M. That way, I can the female body part and the male body part both on one body if I need them to be. This process would also allow for me to merge other products such as props or hair in the future. Hope that's a little more clear.

    No. By the way, codes don't last forever, we tend to use them the day we get them. I think the code was good on Christmas and Boxing Day - but for a total of one use.

    Given how you were wanting a male to have a female part, this would enable you to have a male looking figure with a female part. However I see by your next post that you are truly trying to really complicate the figure. I would highly recommend rethinking your project.

    A geograft uses part of the target figure's mesh in order to be a geograft. It is not intended to be used on ANY other figure.

    If you start remodeling the figure - which is what you would be doing by physically attaching a whole bunch of parts together as one mesh - ALL the uvmaps, morphs, rigging, everything would also have to be redone. Considering that the models are used in Daz Studio to render images, it does not make sense to do all that work when all one has to do is have them in the same scene. They can look like they are together without actually being physically together. 'k.
