Bow Dress WIP
Something I've been working on for a little while. The basic outfit was taken from DressShop but I was disappointed with the way the program tends to butcher the mesh when cutting and editing. So, I took it into 3D Studio Max and edited it manually, cutting along existing seams rather than slicing through them.
Sadly to say, the UV's were a bit of a mess as well. I manually remapped the dress and bow, and set up material zones for the lace, dress, bow and waistband separately. The lace textures are my own design, but the basic dress and waistband are currently using the peacock shaders just for the sake of example. Texture design is not my forte to say the least, so it'll be a learning experience to get everything to match up properly!
I mostly worked on this due to a lack of outfits suitable for children. The neckline is a modest jewel neck, and the lace on the sleeves and skirt can be hidden as necessary. There's also a bow on the back.
Right now, what needs to be done is custom morphs for the Growing Up set, as well as custom shapes for the main Genesis 2 figures. I'll be including every figure I own which covers: Olympia, Gia, Victoria, Lilith, Giselle, Girl and Stephanie. Of course, special consideration will be taken for the Growing up morphs, since that's the focus of the outfit.
I'll be working on a range of texture options for the outfit too. It's an interesting learning experience for me, but moreover it means I can have an outfit I'm happy with at the end of the day.

Looks like you are doing a nice job HOF, it will be fun to see what you do with textures and I really like the bow on it!
Thanks for the compliments. Its probably no surprise to learn that you've inspired me to create some drape morphs for the outfit. I plan to use Poser's cloth room to drape the outfit for some of the default poses, so I have a nice range to work with.
As for the textures, I'm still very much a rookie when it comes to mapping anything, and lacking a means to paint in 3D I'm having to eyeball all of the seams so it's a slow process. I really need to update my software but the applications I'm used to were anything but cheap when they were older, never mind buying the newer versions at full price! Yes, that means most of the UV's were fixed by hand too.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes myself. If little else, it's a good way to pick up a few new talents.
Looks nice! what software did u use to create the mesh? : ) And the renders are from Daz Studio? : )
I used 3D Studio Max 9 for the dress and Daz Studio was used for rendering. The young lady modeling the dress is using the Giselle textures
