Possibility to lower the dome?

I got a scene like... being presented on a table and want a HDRI to be wrapped around it, so no ground. The horizon should be the edge of the table. Now I want to adjust the HDRI's horizon to match the edge. It can be done by changing the x-/z-rotation which is tricky and doesn't work for 360° as the pic is tilted. It would be easier to lift or lower the dome and so the horizont and you get a perfect match 360°.

Of course the scene is not just a table, then I could easily lift or lower the table... the whole setup is on a table and the table doesn't exist, all items would have to get grouped and then raised and lowered, then ungrouped etc. Lots of clicks and work and liable to errors, while raising the horizont would be just one dial to be adjusted...

There is a" ground origin" option in the environment options if you make a ground positioning manual

You need to adjust Y origin

I tried it before and it doesn't work. I just checked again, Dome Origin Y -2000, no change, Ground Origin Y -2000 no change neither with finite and infinte sphere with and w/o ground.

Nort sure why it is not working for you because I just made an empty scene placed a cone primitive in it and it can be clearly seen how adjusting ground origin cuts off part of the cone.

Maybe you forgot to select "draw ground"?

Strange, created a cone too, Draw Ground on, Dome Origin or Ground Origin X, Y or Z to 2000 and back to 0 no change. Dome Orientation (rotation) however works. Cone is like solit in the center of the screen, HDRI stuck at same position.

    Very strange.

Do you see any shadow on the ground?   Are you using default Daz HDRI? and what is your Daz version?

Do you have Dome set to Finite or Infinite

I am using 4.14 Pro, dome is set to both infinite and finite, with and w/o ground.

Testing: Infinite Sphere, Environment map "DTHDR Ruins", Ground Origin Y 50.000, Ground Origin Y -50.000 no change

Testing: Finite Sphere, ", Ground Origin 0, Ground Origin Y -500 there is a change but not in Filament, just in render and the horizont is distorted, arched. But at least it's doing something.

Now, when I think of a dome and raise myself lets say 50m my horizon moves up and it still runs... horizontally and does not bend. I don't think that observers in a crow's nest got their horizon bend on the edges... something's still wrong.

Wait, so you are using filament and not iray?

You should have told that earlier because we all assumed that you are using iRay like everyone else.

As I see filament has many problems and this function is not working for me as well. You just managed to find one more of its bugs.

Looks like Filament does not support finite domes at all and it does not draw ground either

    Iray is working all properly
