i have a hard time finding the proper name for this
it's not really something sold off the shelf

so it's a bracket or a pillar or a pedestal or a pillow block or a mount

    Incidentally

did you know, that if you use image-based reflections

    And

in Daz Studio >4.5's Edit / Preferences / Interface

you turn on the "Per Pixel Shader" option

you get REAL TIME chrome effects !

metal shaders by Georgehaze » right there ------------> http://www.sharecg.com/v/27568/Material-and-Shader/Ultimate-Shader-Pack-for-DAZ-Studio

note that if the the image maps used as fake reflection is "Equirectangular" or "Spherical" you get perfect mirror effects

one source of equirectangular images is http://www.hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html

just one or 2 more mechanical element props to publish

then i can finish the machine links animation script

and do little updates to mcjTeleBlender

then i think, get back to mcjBuilder

    finish the castle stairs prop

    make the mcjCastle doors animatable

    then the bullet physics engine

    then uhh the cage-deformer

there's also the 3d paint script

    then live-Kinect

    and other projects

the 'it' tend to multiply and run around so it takes time to herd them back

thank you for this. I don't know that it will be useful to me, but you come up with the most amazing and unique props. I'm sure it'll come handy one day.

Actually, units like these are sold off the shelf. They're called shaft supports. I've bought a few.

I use the George Haze shader pack a lot!

i also saw the pedestal pillow blocks but they only go to, say 4 inches

the closest i saw was "line shaft" supports which were part of toy steam engines

all the pieces i posted will make a stirling machine, which will be the test case for a mechanism animattion script for daz studio
