Locking x,y,z position of a body part

xalbixxalbix Posts: 7

Hi guys,

I am trying to figure out how to lock the x,y,z position of a body part...

Basically i want to pin a body part to a specific location without affecting the rest of the body.

I tried locking down parameters but that did not work.

Any ideas on how I can achieve this?

Generally that's what IK (Inverse Kinematics) is for. You don't say which application you are using - the methods vary from one to another.

Yes, though DS' pinning is fairly "soft" so it's easy to move the pinned node. Switch to the Universal tool, if you aren't, and select the bones you want to pin. If you look at top-right of the control widget in the viewport there's a pin icon - click that and select Pin Rotations, Pin Translations or both. Then try posting the figure (using the viewport tools or parameter panes).
