installing 3rd party content
Hi I am having trouble installing clothing I bought for my daz from renderosity..I hope someone can help..the info the zip files gave me is this....
Installation Instructions:
Unzip the zip file using any unzip utility to where your DAZ Studio 4 "My Library" directory is located.
The clothing figure pack will be locate under My Library:People:Genesis:Clothing:DZ Clothings
Material Preset will be located in the Mat folder under the respective clothing folder....
.......I tried this all I got was a folder in the clothing area that had data folder templates. short storie I must have did it wrong...
the 2nd zip file says this......
Installation Instructions:
Unzip to your Poser directory or DAZ's Content directory and choose "yes" to overwrite. The outfit will be found in Character/SickleYield/Everyday Underwear/M4 and MAT poses in Poses/SickleYield/MAT EverydayUnderwear M4.
yes I know I can be thick but I did not find a file called content directory..so any help for this thick headed noob would be very much welcome and thank you....

"Content directory" is whatever your content folder is called -- in DS2 and DS3 it was actually called "Content", now the defaults are "My Library" and "My DAZ 3D Library", but it can be called anything.
What's the file structure in the zips you're trying to install?
It doesn't mean "the folder named Content", it means "the folder containing your content files". This folder name — and where it is — can vary by default depending on which version of DAZ|Studio you originally installed, and whether you use DIM to install content or do it manually. It can also be changed if you don't want to use the default settings (usually this is if you want or need to install to an external disk). Check your D|S Content Directory Manager settings to find where D|S is looking for its content files. Also check the content installation settings in DIM to see where it put the content files.
These should be the same, but the two programs do not talk to each other — it is possible to have DIM installing to its default folder but D|S looking in its different default folder, and not notice what's happened. If you install something apparently successfuly, then it vanishes when you look for it in D|S, this is one of the first things you should check.
the file structure in the zips ?
inside the zip is a set of folders..
geometries
libraries
templates
textures
I hope that is what you meant..
well by some accident I have the zips uploaded..all work but the set for m5...something is missing..it says this when I try to use it...
/data/DZheng/DZ MF006/GlennPantsG/DZ_GlennPantsG.dsf the files seem to be missing any dsf info.....???
That probably means the Data folder is not directly beneath the content folder -- if it's several subfolders deep, DS can't find it.
ok does that mean I move the subfolders around or merge them into one folder????
If you have a Data folder which isn't directly underneath a content folder you have mapped in DS, merge it with the one that is. For example, if you have ...My Library\Content\Data it needs to be just ...My Library\Data
In Windows you can just drag & drop to merge, in MacOSX you need to be careful to make sure it's merging and not throwing out the existing files.
I bought this product at Renderosity SkinTime 2.0 for V4/Genesis Nice , but I would like to load from portable hard drive to the my c drive:
I am so used to DAZ install manager working correctly Yea!
Directions Simply unzip to your Poser directory: Which is were?
Doing it manually HMM so the question is it under My DAZ 3D library/runtime ?
Or should I just use content library under poser adding new
Poses will install to Runtime\libraries\pose\Darkworld Characters\SkinTime 2
Just merge it with the Runtime under My Library -- make sure you don't get a Runtime inside that Runtime
