Yeah. I came with the same conclusion. I started a movie with Genesis, but I'm thinking of re-doing it now with Gen 4 characters. It's not that Genesis won't work in Carrara, but in general Gen 4 figures are more compatible. Besides, I'm fed up to wait what seems like an eternity to load a Genesis DUF character with clothes. It gets to me....not to mention the strange clothing selection available for Genesis 2... Victoria 4 has a much nicer collection of realistic adventure-wear, as well as beautiful, long, curly hair!
(my rhyme for the day! ;) )
Great thread. I'm relatively new to Carrara and I've already had my share of issues with Genesis and Genesis 2. I am about half way through a music video with Genesis characters and it's been an uphill trek. The knowledge base within the community has made it much easier then it would have been. I've thought about moving the whole project over to Maya but I really do love Carrara, plus I'm so far along. I'll Probably use V4 and M4 next time around. One thing I must say is that the Genesis characters exported as FBX from studio work very well with C4D and Maya, morphs and all. Blender, not so much.
Cool. I'm glad!
I'm seeing so many new users to Carrara lately, I thought this would be a good subject to bring up.
Genesis and Genesis 2 are cool, but M4 and V4 work so smoothly! Loads of aniBlocks to import, lots of realistic clothing and props... just Lots! And they've been working so beautifully in Carrara for years and years!
I'm of agreement, Dart… and it's for that I still wonder which is the evolution with Genesis…
