Multi Layered Image Editor

Is there a quick way to use the layered image editor in Carrara?

Or would this be the procedure:
1) go into the shading room,
2) select the shader for the area you want to affect,
3) navigate to the image being used to texture that area and open a copy of that texture in photoshop (or other image editor)
4) find the desired file that the Layer Image Editor would use (for bruise or cut or whatnot)
5) blend that in with texture/image that was already being used

Thanks for any suggestions.

Carrara also has many features to blend images or other functions together with a little practice.
We can Add, Subtract, Mix, Overlay, Multiply, and more, to or from most channels with nearly any combination. Then we can save that result and apply it to another operator, creating a nested structure. I guess it all depends upon how the LIE really works. If you need to make a mask for each layer, that could be rather burdensome. But if everything that is not part of the texture is Black, an "Add" operator would add all colors brighter than black to what lies underneath, etc.,

I like Mike's idea of a LIE mixer thingy. But there truly are many ways to blend many things in the powerful Carrara Texture Room, Operators being just one example. But we can also set up Layers Lists, and then specify which part of the geometry gets which layer, and they can completely overlap. So if you do have masks (black and white images showing where to apply a result), simply plop that into alpha - inverse if it turns out backwards... quick and easy.
