Irritating Render Problem in Carrara

Hello all. When I am rendering an animation it will start just fine but during the render it will simply stop. This doesn't happen all the time and the subject of the render doesn't seem to matter. Whether I am rendering My characters or Daz, metal or wood, the render just stops. Anyone have any ideas?

I use a 27in, 3.4ghz quad Imac with 16mg of ram and Carrara8.5.

Are you rendering to image file or avi,mov etc?
could it be be reaching a size that cannot be saved?
Are you saving it to the default temp folder or elsewhere?

I am windows but I always do image series and can continue from last frame if something happens from the saved project.
I have had it just stop rendering or worse all my rendered images vanish saving to default temp for some reason even without closing it which will wipe them everytime!
They also vanished off a drive I still use but when I had added I no longer use another it would stop writing on the first one sometimes, I believe it was a power management issue. Now I always unplug extra externals unless using them.

    Hi Wendy, what's up,

I always render an image sequence. I do not have any drive connected to the computer I render from, except for an occasional flash drive. I have a render folder per assignment folder I always render to. I have plenty of room on my hard drive.
