Content installation problems

I wasnt able to find the subject anywhere but I recently got a new computer and while most installed from Daz with the content manager some did not make the transition. That said if I could figure out how to make them work, and then more importantly ALL the content I bought from Renderosity I cant get to install at all so that it will be recognized in Daz, there seems to be no instructional info on google either for the new Daz 4.7. Does anyone know how to make this work properly so I can use all of my content?

Extract the zip to a temporary location. Inside that location, the key folder you want to look for is Runtime. Take that folder, and any folders in the same folder as Runtime, and merge them with the corresponding folders in your actual content folder (e.g. My DAZ 3D Library or My Library).

I tried that but I cant find a runtime folder in my Daz folders, either in the documents one of the one in program files. It goes from data to adapted_data

Have you any DAZ content of any kind installed. If so, it should be in a folder called 'My DAZ 3D Library' if installed using the DAZ Install Manager (DIM) or in 'My Library' if it is older.

Content installed by DIM goes by default into C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

If you have never installed any Poser Content, then you may not have a folder called Runtime, so you can just drop the Runtime folder into your content folder.

By the way, there is absolutely no difference in how content is installed now in DS4,7. Installation is the same for all versions.

I have tried that a couple of times when I tried a manual download, and I couldnt find it in Daz 4.6 to use it. All my 'Install Manager' downloads have worked perfectly of course. I have even tried 'backtracking' a file in Daz to see if I can locate where it is, but still no luck when trying to direct a file there. And I also have a pile of Renderosity purchased items that are just sitting in a 'maybe oneday I can get it to work' file. :(
I am obviously missing something :(

I don't know what you mean by 'trying to direct a file there'

If you look at fixmypcmike's post above, he tells you to extract any ZIP files that you are trying to install to a temporary folder. That way, if you are not too familiar with ZIP files, you can see what the ZIP file contains. It is then a simple matter to look in your folder called 'My DAZ 3D Library' to see the folder structure there, and merge the appropriate folders.

. All my ‘Install Manager’ downloads have worked perfectly of course.

If you have used DIM (DAZ Install Manager) to install content bought from DAZ, then you should have a folder here:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library and it should contain the same folders as the items that you have bought from other stores. If you want to see exactly what DIM installed, and to where, go to the installed tab in DIM, select the item that you want to know about, right click, and select 'Show Installed Files'. This will show you what has been installed, and where it has been installed to.

I don't have any ZIP files from Rendo, so I donl't know what form they take, but there must be a main folder inside the ZIP file which 'holds' all of the other folders. Poser content (CR2, PP2, PZ2, Hr2 etc etc) will be inside a folder called 'Runtime', and that should be merged with the folder already in My DAZ 3D Library. If you do not have a folder called runtime there, then you must not have any Poser content installed, so just drop the folder called Runtime directly into My DAZ 3D Library.

If it is content made for DAZ Studio (DUF, DAZ, DSF, DSA etc etc), then merge the folders into their corresponding folders in My DAZ 3D Library.

but still no luck when trying to direct a file there

If you have done all of that, and you simply can't find the files inside DAZ Studio, are you looking in the right place? Most content made by other vendors will not have 'Metadata', which means simply, that they will not appear in 'Smart Content'.

ALL installed content WILL appear in the Content Library pane, Poser stuff under Poser Formats > My DAZ 3D Library > Figures (or Props or Poses etc etc) depending on what they are. And the DAZ Studio stuff will appear in DAZ Studio Formats > My DAZ 3D Library in the appropriate folder.

If you are still not sure how to do this, please post a screenshot of the contents of a ZIP file, as an example, and a screenshot of your My DAZ 3D Library.
