Hitomi MIA

Last seen six months ago, her friends and family reported her missing this morning. Any information that can lead to her whereabouts would be appreciated...

But seriously.

I'm trying to find Hitomi 3d Anime Girl For Genesis, SKU 14139. I bought it years back and was able to DL it through DIM a few months ago. I had to delete the archive from DIM and when I went to redownload it, DIM wasn't showing it as a product.

I can download the archive manually, so its not an issue with my purchase. Is anyone else seeing something similar?

How did you delete it from DIM?

My understanding is it is the manifest files that DIM is using to determine what is installed.

Yes, that was how I am able to manually download the files and confirm that the purchase is still in my account.

Right click on entry, delete option. I had to delete it because the ZIP that DIM downloaded was corrupted.

After the delete that the product no longer lists in any of the panels, so it is not available to re-download. I've done all the usual things; show hidden, turn on all options, etc.

I've searched in DIM for variations on the product name as well as the SKU, but nothing appears.

I am trying to figure out if this is just my DIM or happening to everyone. I am also trying to see if there are any other products affected.

I just removed the zip and .dsx files from my Downloads folder, fired up DIM, and it showed Hitomi as Ready to Download. Sounds like some kind of account issue, please open a support ticket (their turnaround time is much better now on new tickets).

Thanks for trying Richard. I have had other account issues so I was suspicious it was an issue with my data.

I did open a ticket a few weeks ago, but I'm not really makling much progress there.

I opened the ticket on May 3rd. Got a reply on Monday, the 17th. Then it went silent again.

Ruchard, could you do one more favor for me? Can you try testing that Hitomi ZIP? It should be IM00014139-01_Hitomi3DAnimeGirlforGenesis.zip.

When I try to unzip it I get this:

! C:\Users\User\Downloads\IM00014139-01_Hitomi3DAnimeGirlforGenesis.zip: The archive is corrupt

That's what led to this whole advventure starting. I also have a ticket open on this, but there's been no movement there either.

It gives an error for Content/People/Genesis/Materials/Hitomi/Hitomi Skin Instructions.dsa. Same if I actually unzip it (using 7Zip).

Thanks. That's what I am experiencing too; I wanted to make sure it wasn't somehow related to the account issues I am having.

I have about three dozen DIM archives with the same errors. Renders the products unusable. DIM doesn't repair the failed installations either.

It's a zero-byte file. There have been updates to other products to replace them with, well, something. It's just a placeholder for an informational thumbnail. If you replace it with another file with some text, it won't cause a problem. The preferred method used nowadays is a stub of script that does nothing, to avoid error messages.

Unfortunately it happens in the middle of the unzipping process and prevents the other files from being unzipped.

Replace it in the archive before unzipping. Just make a short text file with the same name and extension and drop it into the archive to overwrite the one that is in there. Then you can extract everything, no problem.

Okay, I follow now. Not sure if that is going to be feasible though. I have 30 product archives that are all corrupted and I am not sure if they can all be fixed that way.

    D:\DAZ-DIM-Downloads\IM00018869-02_PostgreSQLCMSWin64bit.zip The archive is corrupt
! D:\badzips\IM00004222-01_Hexagon25Win.zip: The archive is corrupt

Are two of the examples that come immediately to mind. It's also not really easy to see which are the bad files across all of the archives.

  • NorthOf45NorthOf45 Posts: 5,489

Well, they do have the zero-byte files, too. From the looks of it, those two user configuration files would probably be modified by their respective programs, so a single space in the text file shouldn't cause any problems. Can't hurt to try.

If you want to test all your products for errors, 7-zip can be run on a command line to test multiple files. The help file has all the details you need.

I used WinRAR to test all my archives, only after I discovered problems with a different file. So I know which other ones are bad:

However, taking the time to manual fix them doesn't fix the issue for DIM. Since any time these are re-downloaded the issue will represent.

Plus I am still trying to sort of the issue of why some of my products won't show in DIM, like the Hitomi archive that started all of this.

There's also some sort of issue with my product inventory files in DAZ's database, since accessing those throws errors too.

I scanned all my zips with both WinRAR and SharpZipLib, to see if they found the same files, which they did.  Here's the complete list of bad files, it looks like there are far more errors among the oldest files:

If you fix the zip and place it in your DIM downloads folder you will be able to use it to install while offline, it's only while online that DIM sees theer is an "update" (a different file from the one it has) and wants to download that. Please do report all of these.

I did open a ticket. I was told to use 7 Zip and the ticket was put on hold.

  • I just bought the Hitomi bundle and the base character package (IM00014139-01_Hitomi3DAnimeGirlforGenesis.zip) wasnt showing up in DIM's list of files to be downloaded after purchasing. After downloading the zip file manually, I dropped it in the \InstallManager\Downloads folder and refreshed DIM.  The package then appeared on the Ready To Install tab.  After clicking Install, everything was right with the world.

The DIM tags for that file are "DSON Importer for Poser" and "Connect Available", but no "Daz Studio 4.5+", like (almost) all other Studio-compatible products. I remember that was a gotcha in the early days of DIM packages. Change your DIM filters to include one or both of those tags, and it should show up. (You might find a few others that have been hiding ;-)
