Help with DimensionTheory's presets for AoA Advanced lights

KharmaKharma Posts: 3,214

Why is it that once you load a preset and then look through the camera for the spotlight the images are upside down...is this normal? I find it very distracting and wonder if I am doing something wrong in loading the presets. I have never noticed the images being upside down when loading a single spotlight and looking through the camera

The upside down view is a misleading side effect which happens because the spotlights are configured to act as point lights. As Point lights, you really cannot aim them, because they point in all directions. So don't bother to look through the light.

Thanks Barbult, I didnot know that a point light or spotlight could be used as anything other than what they are...so unlike a regular spotlight these particular lights have no direction?

If the AOA Spot is set up as a spot light then yes you can look through them as you would a DS Default spot but if the AOA spot is set up to be a point light then you experience what you found.

Szark so how would you know if its a point or spot light....,only by looking through it?

so it is dependent on the spread angle of the spotlight...so just by looking at that setting you will know how it is being used? I do not remember seeing that in the AoA manual, but then again lighting is not my friend lol I struggle with it all the time as you would see in my latest post in my thread Kharma's Korner in the Art Studio. Thank you for the info :)

It is in the Quick Tips section of the manual, but not much is said about it.

Yeah that is why I followed my post with "seriously" as I was joking. As barbult pointed out the manual requires previous understanding of light parameters hence why I posted screenshots.
