Will 2x Nvidia GT 710s help with rendering times?

Hello good people of the community!

Since the beginning of the year I've been creating in Daz Studio and I'm loving it! What I don't love is the render times some of my artwork takes.

My current set up is as follows:

AsRock FM2A88X Extreme 4+ MoBo

AMD A10 7700K APU (boosted to 3.8Ghz)

32 Gb Corsair Dominator Platinum @1866Hz

Corsair H100i AIO cooler.

I built this rig about 6 years ago upgrading parts along the way and it was mainly used for 2D artwork and music production and served me well up until now. Don't get me wrong it's still performing well apart from the afformentioned render times.

I celebrated my Birthday yesterday and was gifted with Amazon vouchers which I've used to purchase a pair of Nvidia GT 710 2Gb DDR5 cards as they were around roughly the same time my APU was released (a couple of years later I believe). I'm hoping for an increase in performance but not expecting any miracles!

Does anyone have any ideas of what I could expect?

Thanks in advance and good day to ya!

I think 710s are too old to be supported in Iray, but even if they are not 2GB (each card has to load the scene entirely) will not be enough to do anything useful - it might just cope with a simple primitive.

  • Ah, I see. Thanks for the quick reply. Would I be better off getting something like a GTX 1050ti?

Consider 6GB's of VRAM on the GPU the minimum for IRAY rendering.

     Good to know, thanks.

  • Quick question for anyone out tere, would an Nvidia Tesla K40 12GB GDDR5 be worth looking into as it's sole purpose is graphics accelaration? I don't ever intend to game on my rig so could this be an option?

No, because that is Kepler architecture and support for Iray rendering in DS with them was ended last November.
