    i think i have causitcs in the render,
    but the light is outside and the only thing
    else that is out side is a background bi gradient.
    so there isn't anything to cast shadow on.

    If there's nothing (like a ground plane) for light reflections/translucency to be cast on you can probably cut down on render time by turning the caustics off. Not sure by how much, but if it's not doing anything visible you might as well turn it off. :)

    Also - this might look really cool with some stuff in the scene (or maybe an HDRI background) to reflect. I like it a lot. :)

    Very nice shader! I just love it!
    I also like the room shaders. It all has such a wonderful, artistic and sort of painterly appearance. Rock on!
