Rendering on default best setting causes crash, due to 4.5?

Hi all, I started to use 4.5 but whenever I tried to render on the default best setting (with the default genesis or anything else loaded), the program would crash. I had rolled back to 4.0.3.47 in hopes of fixing it but it does the same thing.

I have a mac running lion that is only 2 months old, I have 16GB RAM, 1GB VRAM on the video card so I have trouble thinking that the system can't handle rendering the base genesis. Any thoughts on this, I really would appreciate some guidance.

Go the advanced render settings sub-tab of the Render Settings pane and post your settings please.
